My name is Willa de Shakeston. I am a maid of honor at the court of Queen Elizabeth. Some say she favors me above all her ladies in waiting. But I never would have guessed the responsibility she’d bestow upon me. You see, the great Queen entrusted me with a little boy. His name was Edward. But one day, the boy disappeared, vanished into thin air.

Queen's letter
Dear Willa, The strangest event happened recently that shattered my peace and quiet. I received a mysterious threat that seems to have appeared out of thin air – no one had entered my room, even a servant. Nevertheless, I found a note with a single line: “A son for a daughter!” But what does it have to do with me? All Europe knows I have no children. The only child I am taking care of is Edward, your pupil. But even this fact is kept top secret. I beg you to come at once. You must help he find out what this letter is and where it came from. You are the only person to whom I can entrust this task. I must know who is trying to deceive me. Elizabeth I.
When the Earl of Oxford died several years ago, I never thought his death would change my life as much as it did. Queen Elizabeth asked me to educate the Earl’s son, Edward, and as her maid of honor, I could not refuse. Edward turned out to be a wonderful, talented child!
To the maid of honor at the royal palace, Willa de Shakeston. From the Queen. Dear Willa, thank you for taking care of Edward.
These letters keep the history of my service to the Queen. Later I’ll put them in a safer place.

Your young helper
Francis Drake
Francis Drake: Psst! Miss! I couldn’t help but overhear your conversation. You’re Miss Willa de Shakeston, of Stratford-on-Avon? Don’t you remember me? Your old childhood friend, Francis Drake! We used to tear up the fields of Stratford together in Spirit of Revenge 2: Elizabeth's Secret Game for PC! But then I went off to seek adventure and fortune! At least I’ve found adventure… Say, I could be of help to you. It’s not safe for a lady such as yourself to travel without a companion.
You: Old Frannie. He’s always getting into trouble, but I have a soft spot for him.
Queen Elizabeth: Willa, I am surprised to hear you vouch for this knave. We arrested him on sound evidence that he misrepresented himself as in an attempt to secure funding from the Royal Treasury for his latest folly. Very well. He shall serve as your assistant in this matter. Mr. Drake, to assuage your desire to flee, let me assure you that your, ah, skills, as it were, interest me to some degree. If you agree to faithfully serve my maid of honor, I will consider granting you the funding you seek.
