Awesome Z-Scale Train Sets

Updated on January 12, 2014

This Hobby Rocks

I do not know about you, but there is something about trains that gives me a sense if coolness. I think is something about a large machine that can move thousands of tons of material and people at the same time. It is a great accomplishment of mankind.

Being able to make that same accomplishment on a small scale kind of gives me the same feeling. We can create a great landscape with trees and track and all kinds of other things to bring a completeness to the model. I love it.

Train in a Book - Probably the Smallest Train I've Ever Seen

This is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. This guy built a train set inside of a hard bound book. I don't know how he did it, but he did and it actually moves. It is a working train set. He should really do a set of how-tos on YouTube or something.

I have always wanted to build something like this. I have seen many sets built inside of briefcases or suitcases. This is the first time I have seen one inside of a book.

Briefcase Trains - Take Your Tainset on Vacation With You

I always found these train sets in a briefcase fastening. Every time I see one, I remember my childhood seeing one for the first time. People make these because they take up a whole lot less space than a HO scale train. You can keep adding to this set and it will slide under your bed without a question I love them.

Building a Model Railroad Step-by-Step - Model Railroader's How-to-Guide

If you want to get started building model trains, you might want to invest in a book that describes step by step how to do it. This book is a great starting point for anyone who wants a good place to start. Jump over to the amazon page and take a look at the first few pages of the book. You will like what you see.

14 Trains at One Time - I Can't Believe Something Doesn't Go Horribly Wrong

This guy has put a lot of work into this train set. There are 14 train running all at the same time. To look at this set, you kind of get overwhelmed. Take a look.

Coffee Table Z-Scale Train Layouts

The coffee table is another place z-scale enthusiasts build their train sets. The size of a coffee table is just big enough to show off a grand layout of multiple trains. It also allows for a glass top to keep people from messing up the train set.

How to Build a Model Train - This is in HO-Scale, But you Can Make it Z-Scale

This set is a great place to start if you are new to the hobby of building model railroads. This will give you an introduction and a place to start. The videos are very informative and will keep you from making numerous mistakes as you begin your journey. Enjoy.
