The Art of Seong Mi-na and Hwang Seong-gyeong

Updated on October 27, 2016

The Beauty of Mi-na and Hwang

Seong Mi-na and Hwang Seong-gyeong are video game characters from the weapons-based fighting game "Soul" series by Namco (Bandai), taking place in the sixteenth century. They are my favorite characters ever since their inception in "Soul Edge" in the arcades ("Soul Blade" on the Sony PlayStation). There is so much potential in their story lines and their relationship rife with romantic possibilities. I love artwork of them - especially with a romantic subtext - whether it's official or fanart. Here are some official artwork of my two favorite game characters.

A lovely wallpaper with beautifully rendered figures of Hwang and Mi-na holding their weapons. He wields "Blue Thunder" while she wields "Scarlet Thunder", complimenting each other perfectly.

This was a Japanese fanart featured in the original "Soul Calibur" gallery on the Dreamcast console. It was the only fanart that just showed Mi-na and Hwang together as a pair.

I've only played Soul Blade and SC3. Even though Hwang was part of the initial lineup he did surface as a bonus character and as a character you could create in Create-a-Fighter. MiNa was one of my go to characters because, for me, her combo system was a bit easier to learn compared to the other characters. This was a pleasant trip down memory lane. Thanks for sharing this intriguing piece.
