Disclaimer: This Hub is fan speculation; there is no guarantee that any of these features will appear in TimeSplitters 4.
TimeSplitters 4 is the proposed successor to 2005's TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. There was a little bit of concern over the status of the sequel because Free Radical, (the developer behind the TimeSplitters franchise), dissolved and undoubtedly left the future of the quirky first person shooter in limbo.
Thankfully, Free Radical became Crytek UK, and TimeSplitters 4 is still slated to be released for next-gen consoles!
Details about the game are sparse, but a great deal of concept art and a few teaser videos were released on the Internet. So...that can only lead us to wonder what new features we can accept from the 4th installment of the TimeSplitters series...
One of TimeSplitter's redeeming features is its humor. Most FPS are serious in nature, so seeing Sgt. Cortez & Co's comedic adventures is a breath of fresh air in a very saturated video game niche.

After successfully defeating Jacob Crow and destroying the time crystals (thereby eliminating the TimeSplitters), Sergeant Cortez decides to take a much needed break.
While on vacation in the South Pacific, Cortez notices what looks like a translucent bubble appear in the distance. Shortly after, futuristic gunfire erupts from within and Cortez moves to investigate. With no hesitation, he leaps inside the bubble, preparing for the worst.
What he discovers confuses him: instead of being in a futuristic setting like he had expected, he appears in a prehistoric one! Soon, Cortez realizes that these bubbles are really timeloops, anomalies in space and time where history literally repeats itself! Cortez cuts his vacation short, and returns to the Spacetime Marine HQ, trying to come to terms with the idea that the Timesplitters may have returned!
TimeSplitters 4 will take Cortez from everywhere from the American Revolution to post-apocalyptic Europe, to the surface of a strange meteor that has recently begun orbiting the Earth...
TimeSplitters 4's story mode should play on the concept of history repeating itself in each of the Campaign levels. Cortez receives an upgraded Temporal Uplink with the ability to go back and forth through time during the levels!
This means that the player can use time travel to influence the physical structure of levels to solve puzzles and do other things! For instance, if Cortez brings a weapon from the future into the past, it will cause the technology of the following time periods to advance more quickly! And if a section of a level is physically unreachable, Cortez can go forward in time so that the Earth's geography shits!
TimeSplitters 4 should also finally give players the ability to perform dodges like the CPU could execute in previous TimeSplitters games! With the press of a button and the tilt of the directional pad, players should be able to dive, slide, roll, and cartwheel to avoid gunfire. In order to prevent abuse and spam, there should be a brief recovery period after dodging where the player is vulnerable.
Also, TimeSplitters 4 should include the ability to jump. No longer will players be nailed to the ground; now they can leap and reach higher ledges, avoid gunfire, or just hop on other players. This will lead to new possibilities for hectic gameplay, and could possibly be used to jump out of vehicles, GTA-style.
Mapmaker, a staple of the TimeSplitters series should experience an overhaul for the fourth installment. There should be more differently shaped pieces to give levels a greater feel of realism, more tilesets, and the ability to import textures from images using the Internet!
Other features of previous TimeSplitters games should make a comeback as well, like the Challenges and Arcade League, but should will be a difficulty increase to rival that of TimeSplitters 2. Many people felt Future Perfect was too easy, even on the hardest setting. So to remedy that, TimeSplitters 4 should feature challenging, (but not impossible), missions and difficulty settings.
TimeSplitters 4 should also feature a Character Maker, where players would be able to create customized characters, edit their physical features and attributes, and add them to the sprawling roster of playable characters! They should be able to take these characters online, and trade them with other players.
Lastly, the Online mode should incorporate the expected lounges,
ranking systems and networking as previous installments. There should
also be a Time Faction feature, representing all of the time periods
included in the game. Players can choose to join a faction, and compete in the "Time Wars" to see which era will become the dominant one. The assortment of weapons available would change depending on which faction a player joins, in order to keep things interesting.
