Top 10 Yugioh Cards

Updated on July 22, 2014

The Best Of The Best Yugioh Cards

I rank Yugioh Cards based on different categories from the 10th card all the way down to the first card. I will rank based on different categories that concern the game of Yugioh. I know that my opinions might differ from yours at times which can lead to a lot of different ideas of what the Top 10 Yugioh Cards are. Feel free to say your opinion, because everyone's opinion is completely different.

I have multiple blogs and Squidoo lenses all about Yugioh Cards, and I only create these lists after I have taken a look at every possible qualifying Yugioh Card. I make my lists precise with the best Yugioh Cards to empower duelists with the right cards that will help them win more duels in the process.

The Best DARK Monsters In My Deck

Pitch-Black Warwolf

10th Place

Pitch-Black Warwolf

Stats:

1600 ATK and 600 DEF

Level 4 Effect Monster

DARK Monster

Beast-Warrior Type

Effect:

Your opponent is unable to use Trap Cards during the Battle Phase

How Does This Card Help Me?

Pitch-Black Warwolf is similar to Ancient Gear Golem and Jinzo. Obviously, Pitch-Black Warwolf isn't as strong as the monsters and doesn't have as good of an effect, but this card is a Level 4, so it is easy to play. When you attack, don't worry about your opponent's Trap Cards!

Breaker the Magical Warrior

9th Place

Breaker the Magical Warrior

Stats:

1600 ATK and 1000 DEF

Level 4 Effect Monster

DARK Monster

Spellcaster Type

Effect:

When Breaker is Normal Summoned, you have the ability to put 1 Spell Counter on Breaker (max 1). Breaker gains 300 ATK for each Spell Counter attached to it. You can destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card by removing the Spell Counter from Breaker.

How Does This Card Help Me?

Breaker the Magical Warrior technically has 1900 ATK when Normal Summoned, and it has the potential to destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field. Breaker is just another card to destroy your opponent's cards.

Obsidian Dragon

8th Place

Obsidian Dragon

Stats:

800 ATK and 2100 DEF

Level 4 Effect Monster

DARK Monster

Rock-Type

Effect:

Negate the effects of Spell and Trap Cards that target 1 DARK monster you control and destroy them.

How Does This Card Help Me?

Obsidian Dragon may not be as good as the other two IF they were not in a DARK Deck. Obsidian Dragon makes all of my DARK monsters unaffected by any Spell or Trap Cards (except cards that target more than 1 such as Dark Hole). However, knowing that all of my opponent's face-down Spell and Trap Cards won't affect my monsters, then why can't I attack? There is nothing to stop me when I have Obsidian Dragon on my side of the field.

Blast Sphere

7th Place

Stats:

1400 ATK and 1400 DEF

Level 4 Effect Monster

DARK Monster

Machine-Type

Effect:

When this Set card is attacked, it equips to the attacking monster (damage calculation is not applied for this battle). During your opponent's next Standby Phase the equipped monster is destroyed, and your opponent loses life points equal to the destroyed monster's ATK.

How Does This Card Help Me?

Blast Sphere isn't the strongest monster with its 1400 ATK and 1400 DEF, but it has a nasty effect. When this face-down card is attacked, it equips to the attacking monster. Then, during your opponent's next Standby Phase, the monster equipped with this card is destroyed. Great, I could do that with Old Vinedict Magician faster. The big difference is that your opponent loses life points equal to the destroyed monster's ATK. So, a monster with 3000 ATK means that your opponent loses 3000 life points when that monster is destroyed by Blast Sphere's effect. I play Blast Sphere when my opponent has a lot of strong monsters. Then, a monster with 2000 ATK will attack Blast Sphere and then it will be taken off of the field, and my opponent will lose 2000 life points. This is how I use Blast Sphere.

Dark Horus

6th Place

Stats:

3000 ATK and 1800 DEF

Level 8 Effect Monster

DARK Monster

Dragon-Type

Effect:

Once per turn, a Spell Card is activated during your opponent's Main Phase, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 DARK Monster from your Graveyard.

How Does This Card Help Me?

Well, now I have another great reason to play Spell Cards during my opponent's turn, and this effect makes some of my opponents reluctant to activating Spell Cards. Bringing back a monster from the Graveyard is great either way. Pitch-Black Warwolf is a great monster to bring back from the Graveyard.

White Horned Dragon

5th Place

Stats:

2200 ATK and 1400 DEF

Level 6 Effect Monster

DARK Monster

Dragon-Type

Effect:

When Summoned, banish up to 5 Spell Cards in your opponent's Graveyard. This card gains 300 ATK for each banished card.

How Does This Card Help Me?

On paper, Dark Horus is stronger than White Horned Dragon, but White Horned Dragon has a nasty effect. When it is Normal or Special Summoned, you can banish up to 5 Spell Cards in your opponent's Graveyard. Most of your opponents will have Spell Cards because they are a vital part of any Deck. Anyway, for each Spell Card banished (I am using new terms. On the card, it says "remove from play"), White Horned Dragon gains 300 ATK. This Level 6 Dragon has a potential of having 3700 ATK! Any monster that requires only 1 Tribute and could give you 3700 ATK is an awesome monster for any Deck.

The Wicked Avatar

4th Place

Stats:

? ATK and ? DEF

Level 10 Effect Monster

DARK Monster

Fiend-Type

Effect:

The Wicked Avatar's ATK and DEF becomes 100 points higher than the monster with the highest ATK (excluding another The Wicked Avatar). If the strongest monster is a Blue Eyes White Dragon (3000 ATK), then The Wicked Avatar would have 3100 ATK and 3100 DEF. Also, when The Wicked Avatar is Normal Summoned, your opponent cannot activate any Spell or Trap Cards for two turns. However, you cannot Special Summon this card, and you need to Tribute 3 monsters in order to Normal Summon this card.

How Does This Card Help Me?

The Wicked Avatar prevents my opponent from using any Spell or Trap Cards for two turns, and since it is the strongest monster on the field, then what's to stop you from attacking?

Jinzo

3rd Place

Stats:

2400 ATK and 1500 DEF

Level 6 Effect Monster

DARK Monster

Machine-Type

Effect:

Neither player can activate Trap Cards and the effects of all face-up Trap Cards are negated.

How Does This Card Help Me?

Well, my DARK Deck has a lust for power, and Jinzo prevents my opponents from using harmful Trap Cards against my DARK monsters, my life points, etc. With 2400 ATK, Jinzo is still hard to get through.

Gandora, the Dragon of Destruction

2nd Place

Stats:

0 ATK and 0 DEF

Level 8 Effect Monster

DARK Monster

Dragon-Type

Effect:

You cannot Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. You can pay half of your life points to banish every card on the field except this card. Gandora gains 300 ATK times the number of cards banished by this effect. This card is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase.

How Does This Card Help Me?

I have the power to break through all of my opponent's defensive lines and clear the field. All that remains on the field is Gandora, who could have about 3000 ATK for a first full of fury. When I want to beat my opponents quickly, I use Gandora.

Dark Armed Dragon

1st Place

Stats:

2800 ATK and 1000 DEF

Level 7 Effect Monster

DARK Monster

Dragon-Type

Effect:

You cannot Normal Summon or Set this card. Dark Armed Dragon can only be Special Summoned when you have exactly 3 DARK monsters in the Graveyard. You can banish 1 DARK monster in your Graveyard to destroy 1 card on the field.

How Does This Card Help Me?

If you have a DARK Deck, then you will realize that Dark Armed Dragon is a must-have for your Deck. Right when you Special Summon Dark Armed Dragon, you can destroy up to three cards on the field if you wanted to banish all of your DARK monsters from your Graveyard right then and there. With 2800 ATK, there's a lot for an opponent to be scared about.

The Best Cards In The Dragons Collide Structure Deck

Red Eyes Black Dragon

10th Place

Red-Eyes Black Dragon is a Level 7 DARK Dragon-Type monster with 2400 ATK and 2000 DEF. Red-Eyes Black Dragon has no effect, but there are many cards that work well with Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Red-Eyes Black Chick is a Level 1 monster with 800 ATK and 500 DEF that can be sent from your hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 Red-Eyes Black Dragon from your hand. Inferno Fire Blast is a Spell Card that allows you to inflict damage to your opponent's life points equal to the original ATK of 1 Red-Eyes Black Dragon that you control (2400 damage). If you use Inferno Fire Blast, Red-Eyes Black Dragon won't be able to declare an attack. You can banish 1 Red-Eyes Wyvern from your Graveyard to Special Summon a Red-Eyes monster from your Graveyard except for Red Eyes Black Chick. This effect can only be used if you did not Normal Summon or Set a monster this turn. Red-Eyes Black Dragon has no effect, but there are a lot of cards that help make Red-Eyes Black Dragon easier to play and able to do more damage to your opponent.

Axe Dragonute

9th Place

Axe Dragonute is a Level 4 Dragon-Type Effect Monster with 2000 ATK and 1200 DEF. Any monster with 2000 ATK is a great card, and when it attacks, Axe Dragonute is changed to Defense Position during the end of the Damage Step. Unlike cards like Goblin Attack Force, Axe Dragonute, the DARK monster is able to be changed to Attack Position with your free will during your next turn (no card effects are needed).

Blue Eyes White Dragon

8th Place

Blue Eyes White Dragon is a Level 8 LIGHT monster with 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF. This Dragon-Type monster is very strong, but it lacks an effect. Burst Stream of Destruction and White Stone of Legend are two cards that make Blue Eyes White Dragon an even better monster. White Stone of Legend allows you to add 1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon from your Deck to your hand while Burst Stream of Destruction allows you to destroy all monsters your opponent controls if you control a Blue-Eyes White Dragon. However, if you use Burst Stream of Destruction, Blue-Eyes White Dragon won't be able to attack for the rest of the turn. Blue Eyes White Dragon is stronger than Red-Eyes White Dragon in both ATK and DEF making Blue-Eyes White Dragon the better card.

Gragonith, Lightsworn Dragon

7th Place

Gragonith, Lightsworn Dragon is a Level 6 Dragon-Type monster with 2000 ATK and 1600 DEF. This LIGHT monster gains 300 ATK for each Lightsworn monster in your Graveyard with a different name. This Deck is filled with Lightsworn monsters, and getting them to the Graveyard won't be hard for this dragon. At the End Phase of your turns, you must send the top 3 cards from your Deck to the Graveyard, but that's not all to this amazing effect. Gragonith, Lightsworn Dragon inflicts piercing damage to your opponent, so your opponent's life points are never safe when this card destroys an opponent's monster.

Darkflare Dragon

6th Place

Darkflare Dragon is a Level 5 Dragon-Type Effect Monster with 2400 ATK and 1200 DEF. You can Special Summon this DARK monster from your hand by banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard. Once per turn, you can send 1 Dragon-Type monster from your hand and 1 Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard to select 1 card in either players' Graveyard and banish it. This effects works really good on an opponent's Stardust Dragon.

Prime Material Dragon

5th Place

Prime Material Dragon is a Level 6 Dragon-Type monster with 2400 ATK and 2000 DEF. When a player should lose life points from a card effect, Prime Material Dragon makes that player gain the same amount of life points instead. So, if you would lose 200 life points from the Spell Cards Sparks, then you gain 200 life points instead. Also, if there is a card effect used to destroy other monster(s) on the field is activated, you can discard 1 card from your hand to negate the effect of that card and destroy it.

Lightpulsar Dragon

4th Place

This LIGHT monster has 2500 ATK and 1500 DEF and a couple of ways of being Special Summoned. You can banish 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard to Special Summon this card from your hand, or you can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard by sending 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster to your Graveyard. These options will allow you to Special Summon this card easily, and since this card has 2500 ATK, it will provide a lot of power to your side of the field. When Lightpulsar Dragon is sent from the field to the Graveyard by any method, you can Special Summon 1 Level 5 or higher DARK Dragon-Type monster from your Graveyard. This effect can be used to Special Summon Dark Flare Dragon which is the other new Monster Card in the Dragons Collide Structure Deck.

Chaos Sorcerer

3rd Place

Chaos Sorcerer has 2300 ATK and 2000 DEF. You cannot Normal Summon or Set this Spellcaster-Type monster, and you can only Special Summon this creature by banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard. This Summoning requirement is similar to other monsters such as Chaos Emperor Dragon-Envoy of the End and Black Luster Soldier-Envoy of the Beginning. Once per turn, you can banish 1 face-up monster on the field. This effect should be used to banish one of your opponent's monsters with a lot of ATK or a really good effect. However, on the turn you use this effect Chaos Sorcerer cannot declare an attack.

Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon

2nd Place

Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon has 2800 ATK and 2000 DEF. You can Special Summon this DARK monster from your hand by banishing 1 face-up Dragon-Type monster you control. This is a very easy summoning requirement, and you can still Normal Summon another monster on the same turn! Once per turn, you have the power to Special Summon any Dragon-Type monster from your Graveyard. If you Special Summon a monster with 3000 ATK with this effect, you will be able to attack your opponent with multiple monsters that have a lot of ATK. The best part is that it is not hard to Special Summon those monsters from your Graveyard when you have this card on your side of the field.

Dark Armed Dragon

1st Place

Dark Armed Dragon is the best monster in this Deck. The Level 7 DARK monster is a creature with super powers. You cannot Normal Summon or Set this card, and you can only Special Summon it when you have exactly 3 DARK monsters in your Graveyard. You can banish 1 DARK monster to destroy 1 card on the field, but you can use this effect more than once per turn. So, you can take two cards off of your opponent's side of the field during the same turn! With 2800 ATK and 1000 DEF, there is nothing to fear when Dark Armed Dragon is on your side of the field.

The Best XYZ Monsters

Number 17: Leviathan Dragon

10th Place

Number 17: Leviathan Dragon has 2000 ATK and 0 DEF that gains 500 ATK by detaching 1 XYZ Material from this card. Number 17: Leviathan Dragon has only 2 XYZ Materials which gives Number 17: Leviathan Dragon up to 3000 ATK, but if Number 17: Leviathan Dragon has no XYZ Materials, it cannot attack your opponent's life points directly. I think that not being able to attack directly with 3000 ATK is discouraging, but with 2500 ATK, Number 17: Leviathan Dragon can attack your opponent's life points directly. Either way, Number 17: Leviathan Dragon can inflict a lot of damage to your opponent.

Grenosaurus

9th Place

Grenosaurus has 2000 ATK and 1900 DEF and requires 2 Level 3 monsters as the XYZ Materials. When Grenosaurus destroys an opponent's monster by battle, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card to inflict 1000 damage to your opponent's life points. Grenosaurus only has 2 XYZ Materials, but that also means your opponent can lose up to 2000 life points if Grenosaurus destroys 2 of your opponent's monsters by battle. The only reason Grenosaurus is ranked better than Number 17: Leviathan Dragon is that your opponent is guaranteed to lose a lot of life points.

Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon

8th Place

Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon has 2600 ATK and 1700 DEF and requires 2 Level 5 monsters as the XYZ Materials. Once per turn, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon to destroy 1 face-up card that your opponent controls. That means you can destroy up to 2 cards with Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon, and you can pick any face-up card whenever it is a Monster Card, Spell Card, or Trap Card, and send it right to the Graveyard. With Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon, you have a lot of options and a lot of ATK power at the same time!

Number 25: Force Focus

7th Place

Number 25: Force Focus has 2800 ATK and 2400 DEF and requires 2 Level 6 monsters as the XYZ Materials. Once per turn, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from Number 25: Force Focus to negate the effect(s) of 1 Level 5 Effect Monster on your opponent's side of the field until the End Phase. An Effect Monster deprived of its effect is left in a very vulnerable position, and with 2800 ATK, Number 25: Force Focus can easily destroy that monster.

Heroic Champion Excalibur

6th Place

Heroic Champion Excalibur has 2000 ATK and 2000 DEF and requires 2 Level 4 Warrior-Type monsters as the XYZ Materials. Once per turn, you can detach 2 XYZ Materials from Heroic Champion Excalibur to give it 2000 extra ATK giving it a total of 4000 ATK which is stronger than more than 90% of all the Monster Cards in the game. Heroic Champion Excalibur is easy access to 4000 ATK, but during the End Phase, Heroic Champion Excalibur's ATK goes back down to 2000. If you want to XYZ Summon Heroic Champion Excalibur, make sure that your opponent has a monster in Attack Position or no monsters at all.

Number 39: Utopia

5th Place

Number 39: Utopia has 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF and requires 2 Level 4 monsters as the XYZ Materials. When a monster declares an attack, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from Number 39: Utopia to negate that attack. You can stop an opponent's stronger monster from attacking, but at the same time, you can stop one of your monsters from attacking in the event that your opponent is well prepared for an attack. When Number 39: Utopia is attacked while it has no XYZ Materials, then Number 39: Utopia is destroyed right away. That is the only downside for Number 39: Utopia, but if you could negate 2 attacks with a monster that has 2500 ATK, I wouldn't hesitate to put that monster on my side of the field.

Tiras, Keeper of Genesis

4th Place

Tiras, Keeper of Genesis has 2600 ATK and 1700 DEF and requires 2 Level 5 monsters as the XYZ Materials. Tiras, Keeper of Genesis cannot be destroyed by card effects, and after the Battle Phase that this card attacks or is attacked, you can destroy 1 card on your opponent's side of the field whenever it is a face-up Monster Card or a Set Spell or Trap Card. This effect may sound too true to believe, but during each of your End Phases, you must detach 1 XYZ Material from Tiras, Keeper of Genesis, so make sure you don't put Tiras, Keeper of Genesis to waste. As a side note, you could use Tiras, Keeper of Genesis as the XYZ Material for Gaia Dragon the Thunder Charger once Tiras, Keeper of Genesis runs out of XYZ Materials.

Number C39: Utopia Ray

3rd Place

Number C39: Utopia Ray has 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF and requires 3 Level 4 LIGHT monsters as the XYZ Materials, or you can use Number 39: Utopia as an XYZ Material, and any of Number 39: Utopia's XYZ Materials will become Number C39: Utopia Ray's XYZ Materials. When you have 1000 life points or less, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from Number C39: Utopia Ray to give it a 500 ATK boost and make one of your opponent's monsters lose 1000 ATK which results in a 1500 ATK difference to your advantage. If Number 39: Utopia runs out of XYZ Materials, you can XYZ Summon Number C39: Utopia Ray right away!

Photon Strike Bounzer

2nd Place

Photon Strike Bounzer has 2700 ATK and 2000 DEF and requires 2 Level 6 monsters as the XYZ Materials. Similar to Number 25: Force Focus, Photon Strike Bounzer negates your opponent's monster's effects, but there are some differences. Each time Photon Strike Bounzer negates the effect of an opponent's monster, your opponent loses 1000 life points! You can also use this effect on any monster no matter what Level it is.

Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon

1st Place

Was this obvious? Although Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon requires 3 Level 8 monsters as XYZ Materials, Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon has 4500 ATK and 3000 DEF that beats the competition. If you XYZ Summon Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon with Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon as an XYZ Material, you can negate the effect(s) of all cards on the field which allows Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon to easily destroy your opponent's monsters. You can also detach 1 XYZ Material from this card to detach all of the XYZ Materials from monsterS (I capitalized the S for monsters to emphasize more than 1) and then Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon gains 500 ATK for each XYZ Material detached by this effect. Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon can also attack equal to the number of XYZ Materials detached by this effect. Did you ever wonder what could happen if a monster with 4500 ATK could attack more than once, or even 5 times in the same turn? With Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, the best XYZ Monster right now, you can figure out what damage you can inflict to your opponent.

dragons collide is a great deck but the best card is darkness metal dragon easy to summon and can special summon other monsters but i personally think realm of the sea emperor is a better all round deck
