Disney Princess gifts make wonderful presents for little girls and toddlers

Disney's princesses are beloved by girls from an early age. The movies are legendary and introduce these characters that girls look up to and adore. Whether her favorite is the Little Mermaid, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, Tiana, Belle or otherwise there's a great princess themed toy that she's sure to love. My own daughter is one such fan and all of her favorite toys are somehow related to her favorite Disney character.

Did You Know?

The theme song from Beauty and the Beast was not sung by Belle but by Mrs. Potts.

Dress Up Costumes

My daughter loves dressing up probably more than any other activity. Every time I turn around she's wearing a different costume and loves to pretend to actually be that character. She likes to be addressed as the princess who's outfit she's wearing. What's great about dress up costumes is they can also be used for Halloween costumes or vice versa. Plus dress up offers a variety of benefits for a child from working through feelings, using their imaginations and fostering creativity and practicing life skills.

Sing Along Disney Princess CD Player

This CD player is darling in a little girls room. It's a pink pumpkin coach inspired by none other than Cinderella and includes headphones and a microphone. It even has two microphone inputs in case sisters each want to play together or with a friend. Pick out a couple of CD's with all your princesses favorite songs and she'll be having a blast in no time.

History of the Princesses

Snow White starred in the first Disney princess movie which came out in 1937. Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs was based off a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.

Cinderella was the second character introduced in 1950 and is often considered the leader of all the princesses. Her tale was based off of a French fairy tale by Charles Perrault.

Aurora comes next as Sleeping Beauty from 1959. This was also based off another French fairy tale by Charles Perrault.

Ariel came next in the Little Mermaid in 1989. This story was based off of a Danish Fairy Tale by Hans Christian Andersen.

Belle makes her debut in Beauty and the Beast in 1991. Her story comes from a French Fairy Tale by Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont. Interestingly Belle is the only animated character to be included on The American Film Institutes list of 100 Heroes and Villains.

Jasmine is the star of Aladdin which came to theaters in 1992. Jamines story comes from the One Thousand and One Nights tale of "Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp".

Pocahontas makes her appearance in 1995. She is based off of a real historical figure who was the daughter of a Native American chief.

Mulan came out in 1998 and she's a little different because she's not technically a princess but does marry a general of the military. Her story is made from the legend of Hua Mulan.

Tiana appears in The Princess and The Frog which premiered in 2009. This story is adapted from the book The Frog Prince by E.D. Baker.

Rapunzel the star from Tangled is introduced in 2010. Her story is also an adaptation from a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.

Merida who is the Pixar Princess from Brave which came out in 2012. She is the first original princess that is not based off of another piece of work or an actual historical figure.

Coming Soon! Anna will soon be introduced in the Disney film Frozen which will be making it's way to theaters soon. She is another spin off from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, this one The Snow Queen.

Disney Princess Favorite Moments Mini Dolls and Accessories

These miniature dolls are by far my daughters favorite toys. She even sleeps with them at night. They have fun accessories to play with like different shoes and outfits to dress them in, animal friends and more. They come either as individual princesses or in sets. The wedding set is fun because it's the only one that includes princes as well which my daughter really enjoys.

Did you know?

Ariel is the only Disney princess that has biological siblings. The other princesses are only children.

It has a talking phone, musical recipe book, decorative stickers, and 16 princess-themed accessories such as a tea set and cooking tools. Although Disney has their share of internal corporate struggles, their brand for toys and entertainment remains "as good as it gets". I can still remember looking forward to Walt Disney himself introducing the Wonderful World of Disney on television. His spirit lives on with gifts from Disney. SquidAngel blessings.
