All the best toys for 5 year old boys for 2014 are here in this comprehensive list. You can use this as your shopping guide for the best toys for boys this year, no matter if you are shopping for Christmas, birthdays, or any event in between.

If you are shopping for a 5 year old boy you know it can be hard to do, since finding age-appropriate toys can be difficult. Here is a great selection of toys for 5 year old boys. This year, pick out what they'll love, rather than what they'll forget about after they open their gifts! And maybe even get a photo-worthy smile from him.

5 Star Rating on This Awesome Gift!

This would make a fantastic outdoor gift for a 5 year old boy! He simply pushes with a left-to-right motion on the push bar and this takes off!

It's extremely safe, due to the very low center of gravity. All the kids will be wondering what this is around the neighborhood--it's such a cool toy.

As safe as it is, be sure to pick up a protective helmet to give you extra peace of mind.

It's available in a ton of colors, too! My son is really picky when it comes to colors, so if red isn't his thing, there are several others to choose from.

Great Gift Idea for 5 Year Old Boys: Creative Watch!

Here's a fabulous gift idea for boys who are 5. It's a Lego watch that he actually builds himself--he'll be so proud of wearing something that he created (or helped create!).

It's also great because it will help him as he's learning to tell time. How often do you get a creative, educational AND functional gift, all rolled into one?

This would make a fantastic stocking stuffer, too! Or, if you need a small add-on gift for a birthday or another occasion, this present fits the bill.

More Watch Options if Your Child Loves Legos - Tons of colors available

Here are just a few more options so you can get an idea of what's out there. This would also be a fun, collectible gift for your little guy, too.

LEGO Star Wars Yoda Kids Buildable Watch with Link Bracelet and Minifigure | green/gray | plastic | 28mm case diameter| analog quartz | boy girl | official
LEGO Star Wars Yoda Kids Buildable Watch with Link Bracelet and Minifigure | green/gray | plastic | 28mm case diameter| analog quartz | boy girl | official

Does he love Star Wars? Watching that series is like a rite of passage for young boys today, so if he's a big a fan as some 5 to 7 year old boys, I know, he may like this option.

Educational Gift for Boys Aged 5

If your five year old has expressed an interest in educational toys, this is a great toy for him! It's got over 1,000 reviews--people LOVE this gift. When something has that much feedback, it definitely catches my attention.

Simply hang this remote-controlled moon on his wall, and it will teach him all the phases of the moon.

This is just one of those unique, interesting gifts that will mesmerize your child.

I don't know about you, but my son gets fanatical about some of his toys. Like most kids, he'll be obsessed with one gift/toy at a time before moving on to the next one. Knowing he's going to do this, I like that anything he's going to be spending a lot of time with is also educational (like this one).

Is He Creative?

What an awesome gift! You know how your 5 year old likes to come home and hang his school project on the fridge (he's so proud!)? This is similar!

He'll get all he needs to create his own 12-page book; he'll color and design the cover page, create an "About the Author" page, and more.

Then, send off the book and in 3-4 weeks, you'll get a professionally typeset, hard-bound book. What a FANTASTIC family keepsake!

Sure to Be a Popular Choice This Year!

This is arguably the most popular gift for 2014 -- the LeapPad 2 released at the end of last year and was so hard to find last holiday. What a great tablet with a massive 7" screen for 5 year old boys!

This tablet has it all: front and back cameras, 800+ available games and apps, eBooks, videos, creativity games and so much more--all with 8GB of memory.

He can use it as a touchscreen (just like his parents do on their iPads) or use a stylus to play and learn. You cannot go wrong with this amazing gift!

My son simply loves it. He likes, especially, how I can download his favorite songs and movies onto it. It's really great for long car rides, too. The battery life is actually pretty good, too! Be sure to stock up on some, though, to have on hand.

Fun Maze Game for Boy 5 Year Old - 5 year old boys (and parents!) love this toy

Keep him challenged with this great gift. This helps to really develop hand and eye coordination, too!

What does he love? What do 5 year old boys you know play with? What should we add to this list?

Alas, my 5 year old boy turned 34 this year, so he won't be in the market for many of these toys. They sure look like fun, though! Wonderful selection.

@anonymous: If you feel the need to get him more, you can always add clothes. My 5, 7, and 12 year olds love new clothes.

@anonymous: Don't feel stuck, it sounds like your son has an awesome mom, who has given a lot of thought to what he likes. Plus, last year my now-five-year-old got too many things and we had to put some away for later! I think books and the moon and the Wii will give him a great holiday.

My son will be 5 in September and he will be getting a Wii with some games and this will be his big toy, However like anything else he will have to complete his chores and homework before he can play. I don't see any problems with video games, as long as they are in moderation and parents are providing plenty of other learning experiences throughout their day. We will also be buying the Moon shown above w/remote for his new bedroom and some easy to read books he will enjoy and beyond this I'm just STUCK!
