Toys for Children 0 to 24 Months
A world of discovery!
Babies are fascinating and wonderful; they provide us with affectionate hugs, allow us to demonstrate our most nurturing selves and accept us as we are. Isn't that a breath-taking package?
Regardless of how young babies are, they are aware of what's happening around them; they process words, information and ideas sooner than we realize and are constantly undergoing a learning process, even when they grow older and become engaged in the act of playing.
This lens will showcase a few great toys for babies and will be divided into stages, as appropriate. Effective immediately, I am going to step into the world of a little baby and let you know what would appeal to me; my hope is that something here will fascinate your baby, too.
So the perspective of this lensmaster will change drastically to that of my little boy; be prepared to have a chuckle or two but I'll try my best to eliminate the typos. :)
The only thing I need, right now, is for you to dance with me.
I don't need toys yet...
I just want to dance with Mommy. I like looking into her eyes; when she looks back at me, it feels really nice. It's too bad I always end up falling asleep because I really love dancing with Mommy.
I don't care much for little kids' tunes; I don't care for a lot of singers...but I love listening to Tina Turner. What's love got to do with it? Everything...because if I didn't love Mommy so much I wouldn't be letting her dance with me.
This is just to let you know that these were my favorite songs to dance to:
I love the music. The rhythm and beat and the sound of Tina Turner's voice was always soothing for me. When I was tired and didn't want to settle down - because I was waiting for Daddy to get home from work or was just being fussy - listening to Tina Turner while dancing with Mommy was the answer to my prayers.
My favorite songs are on Tina's All the Best CD...but I thought you should look at the other two.
It's important for babies to stay warm; if we get chilled, we might catch a cold.
Tell me: do you like using tissues?
I love blankets!
Especially if they are colorful
Colors are really interesting for us babies; the more colors we see, the more excited we are. We point at them, think they are pretty and our eyes light up with glee.
I know I'm a boy but my favorite blanket was a homemade one my sister used to own. It has ducks sewn all over it and the border is pink and white...but it's so colorful and I like it a lot, even now. Perhaps Mommy can make me a blue blanket but, until then, Sis' blanket will be OK.
Colorful blankets for girls and boys
These blankets are really nice for babies; they are colorful and help keep us warm. They get our attention even when we are too young to move around a lot.
Shake it, baby!
The Rattle Stage
Shake, shake, shake...
Rattles are colorful, too. They are not too heavy, which makes us really like holding them and playing with them. Some of them are thicker than others, though, and they're not as good for really small babies unless they have big hands.
There are lots of different rattles; I've had rattles with beads inside, others had water with decorations and, when I moved the rattle, the decorations would move, too. I liked that!
Take a look at these!
When we have a rattle - teether combination, that's really cool. We love to bite on things when our teeth are growing and colors fascinate us more than ever!
I'm on the move!
You better watch out. I could get into anything.
When we start to move around...
We'd like to have hands-on toys.
My sisters are much older than me; they have their own things and it seems they don't want me to touch them...so I like to have things of my own that I can touch whenever I want. I hope that makes sense.
Look at these toys! Any kid like me would get excited if we owned these.
Toys to engage your little one...
What do you think?
Pretend you are a baby and put yourself in my shoes.
What would you rather have?
A dance with Mommy
My knees have finally left the floor!
I'm walking now
It's much faster than crawling
I love the world of being able to walk. Would you believe I was able to hold a broom and sweep (a little) when I was 14 months old? Look at the proof in the photo!
I can't run yet but that's OK because it looks too scary; people run towards me and it's way too fast for me. It's like having a giant pop up in front of my face. Sometimes it makes me scream with fright! Don't they realize they are so much bigger and taller than me?
What I need now - even though I'll always love to dance with Mommy - is a toy I can stand up and play with. I need buttons to push and gadgets to move and it would be nice if it played music; I want something that makes my eyes grow wide and makes me smile.
What about these?
But we can't stand up all the time; our legs get tired just like yours... so here are some other toys we would love. The important thing to remember is that we love colorful toys that don't make us bored.
Guess what, folks?
The words are coming; I'm learning to talk!
I can say, "Daddy" and "Mommy." It makes them happy.
Just hang on. More words will come yet.
I'm getting so excited!
Life is becoming more fun than before.
I get tired of pointing, trying to get my parents and sisters to read my mind. Mommy is pretty good at it but I know she must get tired when she can't figure out what I'm trying to say, which causes me to whine and fuss.
I know; it doesn't sound very nice of me but I don't know what else to do; they have to find out what I need somehow.
But it's getting better; more words are coming every day. I can say lots of words and I'm even learning my colors. I can point to a lot of things and say their names. I know this makes my family really happy...so I want to learn even more words.
Wow! I love these!
Toys which help me learn new words are really good. I love books, too, but because I still might tear the pages, the hard books are better. Look at these and see what you think. If I can't tear them, your baby shouldn't either.
Bring on the music!
I'm ready to sing and dance more than ever before.
Let's get my body moving.
I like music!
I really do!
I like music that makes me want to sing along. It's even better if it makes me want to dance!
Twist and shout - I can do that! Hop all about - I can do that, too!
Come on, Mommy and Daddy! Where's my music?
At long last
I can dance to these and I'm sure I can learn to sing all the songs, but there's no rush. I'm only a baby yet; actually, now they call me a toddler. It seems I've graduated again...
But wait! I may still destroy these CDs so it's best not to let me have them for another while, even if I cry and whine; don't give in because we may both regret it: I'll miss my music and you'll have to buy me another CD.
I almost forgot!
I love DVDs, too. Sometimes I just want to relax and watch something on TV...but, even though it's just a toddler's movie, I hope you still have my popcorn ready!
The lensmaster is back using her own voice - and I'm wondering about something...
I used a different voice and perspective when creating this lens. Granted, some of the words may be too big for babies to use. However, I'd like to think that the thoughts portrayed are on target and were engaging.
Tell me what you think...
Was the voice and perspective of this lens...
I would love to hear your thoughts about this lens.
