Toys for Toddler Boys
Toys for Toddler Boys!
I have a two year old boy*, and he loves to play with his toys! Whether he is playing with trucks, building something, or coloring, he always likes to play. Here are some of my toddler's favorite toy picks, along with other toys that I have seen that other kids are enjoying. If you have a toddler boy, or need to buy a gift for a toddler boy, see what the other kids like to play with!

What do toddler boys like?
Not only did I have a toddler, but I worked in a day care for a couple of years, and I've been working in my church's nursery for almost a decade. Most of the toddler boys that I know like to build things with blocks. They like trucks. They like to play pretend games. They like ride-on toys. They like to be active and play with balls. They also still love their stuffed animals. They also like trains, especially Thomas Trains.

Some of the Hottest Toddler Boy Toys for 2012
Most toddlers love Elmo.
These have a very long lifespan. My little boy got a huge box of these when he was about two, and he still plays with them at age 5 (although he is starting to get into the smaller Legos now).
A Day In The Life of A Toddler Boy

- 10 AM - Climb on Mommy while she tries to teach math to his sister.
- 11 AM - Play with Color Wonder Markers, unless he finds regular markers, then he colors on the floor.
- 12:30 PM - Eat lunch.
- 1 PM - Take nap.
- 2:30 PM - Gets woken up and whisked away to the car to go to sister's gymnastics practice.
- 3:30 PM - Kicks soccer balls to his friend Ty-Ty, then plays with Little People Lion and Tonka Wheel Pals.
- 4:30 PM - Goes home to eat dinner.
- 6:00 PM - After dinner, plays with Thomas trains, then goes to find sister to bother her for a while.
- 7:30 PM - Goes to bed, to start the next day all over again.
Toddler Boy Toys - Legos and Megabloks
As a toddler, my little guy loved to play with Lego Duplo sets and Mega Bloks.
Mega Bloks are larger than the Duplo toys, which means that younger children can play with them, and it's easier to build larger structures. My parents gave us a huge tub of Mega Bloks that they picked up at a garage sale. He can make very large items with it. He loves to play quietly with these blocks in the mornings before it's officially time for him to get up. A toddler playing quietly... it's true!
Mega Bloks come in regular colors, or you can get special Winnie the Pooh or Disney blocks as well.
Lego Duplo Blocks
Duplos have been around since I was little, but they have evolved over time. You can see a small selection at stores like Toys R Us, but if you really want to see what you can buy, you should take a trip to the Lego shop. You can get miniature people, Thomas the Train, and zoo animals. One of the kids favorite Duplo sets at the day care that I worked at was the Dinosaur set... you can buy that set off of Amazon.com or school supply catalogs like Rainbow Resource.

Toys your Toddler Boy Might Like
My little guy LOVES Thomas and friends! Not only does he build the track, he also carries the trains around and plays with them. We have Thomas, Rosie, and Diesel, but I'm sure that we'll get more for birthdays and Christmas.
This was my son's first Thomas set. It comes with all you need to get started with Thomas & Friends. It has a Thomas, track, and even a railroad crossing sign.
Legos are a lot of fun,and they build coordination. My little guy not only builds with them, but he puts them in trucks and hauls them around.
You can't beat Little People Toys. My kids had an earlier version of this toy, and they loved it.
Toys My Boy Loves - Thomas and Friends
My little guy LOVES Thomas and Friends. His first introduction to Thomas and Friends was for his second birthday. His grandma got him a Thomas and Friends oval train set. It came with a Thomas car, baggage car, railroad crossing sign, and enough track to make an oval. With his birthday money, we bought him more track, as well as the Christmas Thomas/Gift Car set. For Christmas, he received Rosie and Diesel cars.
Thomas and Friends has a cartoon that comes on every week. We Tivo it, and he watches the same show every day for a week, until the next show comes on. He loves it. Thomas and Friends has recently converted to CGI animation, and I really like all the new facial expressions on the trains. My little guy really didn't care too much that their faces barely moved though.
We have the Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway sets. They also make Thomas and Friends in the Trackmaster, Take Away, and even Lego varieties. I haven't tried any of those yet. The Wooden Railway sets are compatible with Brio trains. If my parents ever find our old trains, he'll have more track to play with.
Thomas and Friends are toys that my son really loves!
Toys My Boy Loves
Little People Noah's Ark
The Little People Noah's Ark is a lot of fun for kids, and my boy really likes it. He loves all the Little People animals, and carry them around the house. I think that these toys are great too, because I can help teach my son the names of different animals. Well, he knows most of his animal names (and sounds) now, but when he was learning them, Little People animals were a real help. My daughter really loved Little People animals and the Noah's Ark as well.
