Updated on April 18, 2013

For Kids age 4-18

Are you trying to choose a Transformers 3 Megatron Toy as a gift? There are quite a few different Megatron toys available. This guide will take you through the toys and the age-groups and difficulty levels so you can pick the best one.

Megatron is the leader of the Decepticons (they are the bad guys in Transformers.) He's very popular because you need a bad guy for your Autobots to fight.

The Transformers Robo Power range is for younger fans. The Robo Power Bash Bots Bumblebee vs. Megatron set is for kids aged 4+.

The Bash Bots are designed to fight each other in a game. You push a lever on the transformer in vehicle mode and it stands up to fight in robot mode. The goal is to try and bash your opponent off its base to win. This set includes Megatron and Bumblebee so you can play the game.

You can also fix the transformer in robot mode to play with it as action figure.

The Cyberverse range of transformers are small collectible transformers that take several moves to transform. They are proper transfomers, but not too difficult for younger children. The Megatron Cyberverse Commander Class Action figure is quite an interesting one - he actually has multiple pieces that fit together as you convert him from robot to Mack Truck mode.

I'm rather taken with the KRE-O Transformers range of toys. With the KRE-O Megatron set you can build either the robot Megatron or the Mack Truck Megatron from the same Lego-like bricks. And then you have little KRE-ON mini figures to play with.

Note that these are pretty complex models to build. The recommended age is 8-14. So this will keep older transformers fans well entertained. But in a household like ours where Mom and Dad are more than happy to help build models, younger kids may enjoy them too.
