VTech Switch & Go Dinos

Updated on April 17, 2013

Dinosaurs that Transform into Vehicles

VTech Switch & Go Dinos are a tech dinosaur toy with new models for 2013. These dinosaurs are two in one transforming toys. They can switch from their dinosaur form to vehicle form in a few simple moves.

There are seven different dinos in the initial range from small lower priced dinosaurs up to larger, and more expensive options.

These dinosaurs are brightly coloured, chunky and cheeky looking and will appeal to preschoolers and little kids. VTech Switch & Go Dinos are appearing on top toys lists for Christmas.

8 March 2013: New VTech Switch and Go Dinos models

New 2013 VTech Dinosaurs

The original dinosaurs proved so popular that VTech have developed four new dinosaurs for 2013.

The new wave of toys includes some more unusual species, we get: Amargasaurus, Velociraptor, Therizinosaurus and Stygimoloch.

Velociraptor is pretty well known. But the other three will be new to most adults. A young dinosaur expert may well have heard of them though - mine certainly have from books and TV shows.

New Switch & Go Dinosaurs for 2013

Amargasaurus: Fear not young sire, I am a herbivore.

Amargasaurus, Velociraptor, Therizinosaurus and Stygimoloch

We've got some more species of dinosaur beyond the most well-known ones. When my older son was 3 he knew so much about dinosaurs. He's too big for these now, but I'm sure the next generation of dinosaur lovers will enjoy them.

These toys switch from dino to vehicle form and back again and they all have sounds and phrases and light-up eyes.

These are small to medium sized additions to the range. You'll still want to look to the original models (below) if you want a really big toy.

These Toys Need Batteries

These are electronic toys and each take from 1 to 4 AA batteries depending on the size of the dino. The batteries ARE included. But you might want to have some spares around just in case.

I'm a Theropod!

MC Roar The Giganotosaurus - New

MC Roat the Giganotosaurus is a new addition to the range.

He has an LCD screen just like the originals and lots of phrases, sounds and animations that change depending on whether he's in vehicle of Giganotosaurus mode.

VTech Offer

You can also get the new models direct from VTech Kids and there is a discount offer for new customers.

You'll need to factor in the delivery costs though - it may not work out cheaper over all.

The Original Line Up

Here are the seven VTech Switch & Go Dinos in their dinosaur form.

Small (front row):

- Sliver the T-Rex (green)

- T-Don the Pteranodon (red)

- Tonn the Stegosaurus (yellow)

- Horns the Triceratops (blue)

- Attila the Ankylosaurus (yellow)

- Span the Spinosaurus (blue)

- Brok the Brachiosaurus (red)

Note: I'm working these out by matching the dinosaur to their names. I'm pretty good at recognising dinosaurs so hopefully I've got them right. The names come from the US press release for VTech Switch & Go Dinos. Note that in the UK videos for these toys some dinosaurs have different names. I'm not yet sure whether this is a difference between countries or a late name change.

Brok the Brachiosaurus - Transforming Dinosaur

These dinosaurs transform from dinosaur to vehicle and back again in a few moves that preschoolers and little kids can manage. This is excellent news. My little kids get very frustrated with complex transforming toys but love the idea. I'm sure they'll enjoy the more complex toys when they get older but for now something simpler is ideal.

This is Brok the Brachiosaurus, the largest VTech Switch & Go Dinos Dinosaur shown in both his modes - dinosaur and vehicle.

This is a really big and impressive toy. We're talking main birthday or Christmas gift for a toddler or preschooler here.

In these videos you can see four of the VTech Switch & Go Dinos in both their forms and also watch how they transform in just a few moves.

Sliver the T-Rex - Dinosaur with LCD Display

This is Sliver the T-Rex. T-Rex is the most popular of all dinosaurs with little kids and the VTech Switch & Go Dinos Tyrannosaurus Rex is one of the smaller and more affordable in the range. We're sure he'll be popular! We love that big toothy grin.

The VTech Switch & Go Dinos each have an LCD panel on them. This display offers a selection of images suitable for the dinosaur and vehicle modes. In dinosaur mode you get a choice of eyes and in vehicle mode you get a choice of driver.

They call me spine-lizard because of the long spines on my back.

Span the Spinosaurus - Speaks dinosaur facts

This is Span the Spinosaurus. Spinosaurus is a very popular dinosaur with kids because he was big and mean and had a cool sail on his back.

Each of the VTech Switch & Go Dinos can say dinosaur facts when they are in dinosaur mode when action buttons are pressed.

These facts are fun and educational. My little dinosaur fans love learning facts about dinosaurs.
