Dollhouse in wood: build it together with your daughter

Updated on May 19, 2014

In the world of the dolls

Ive loved dollhouses for as long as I can recall, I remember the feeling I felt when playing with my house. It was a world that felt real to me, I played several hours a day. I had a doll who could have been me, a grandmother doll, and a rabbit. The grandmother doll mostly sat in the armchair and babysat. The parents were always away. So it was all about the me-doll and the rabbit. I dont remember the details, but it all took place inside that house. I mostly enjoyed the staircase as so much happened around it, as well as the kitchen where they ate meals now and again.

Now its starting to be time for my daughter to get her first dollhouse. I have looked around the net quite a lot and now Ive decided for this house. Its a kit, everything comes with the box furniture, lighting, and material for all the small things in the house, as well as a manual that according to the salesperson is easy to follow, Ill come back to you with a review once Ive built the house. . My idea is that well built it together my daughter and I. The only thing missing in my house was lighting, so its very important we have that now, my daughter has said that she wants that. It will be here night lamp. A beautiful house shining in the night as we wakes up, who could be scared then? No one.

Large and play friendly

The house has, as you can see, three levels with a staircase connecting the three levels. A veranda and a large balcony, large enough for the dolls to sit on. As you can see there is even outside lighting. All the furniture and all small things you see on the picture comes with the kit. The lighting as well of course. It’s probably a fairly large project to get into, but I think it works if you spend time on it and finish one room at the time. That way the dolls can move in to the part that’s finished first.

There’s a little bakery to buy for the house

For this dollhouse especially there is a small addition to purchase. It’s a bakery in the bottom floor, and a terrace on the roof. There’s also an additional piece where all accessories and lighting is. To have a little bakery for the dolls to work in is a really fun idea. I would have liked that as a child, and my daughter will love it.

Furnish a little beach house in your old lantern

This lantern is pure inspiration. You can get it as a kit, but with a little imagination you can make one yourself from some old lantern you have laying around. It doesn’t seem all too hard. A little piano and a sofa and a table. Some small paintings, tiny baskets, and a little tea set. Then we fix all the lighting, sew together the drapery and then we’re done!

What a nice little kitchen!

This beautiful kitchen is made from wood and is in scale 1:12. Works fine for any dollhouse. I like that it’s modern in old style, much like many real kitchens are made today. There are many cabinets and doors that you could use for a bunch of small food packages and other things. The small things on the picture sadly do not come with the purchase.

I like old-fashioned dollhouses best

A house by the sea

This nice little beach house almost feels like the perfect dollhouse. It’s so fine in all its details and it gives such a feeling of the sea and the cry of the seagulls. If I could build an infinite amount of dollhouses, I would get this one to. You never know if we’ve built an entire little town in a few years’ time, my daughter and I. If she thinks it’s as fun as I do.

And then a scent from the 60s

I can imagine there will be a grandmother doll moving in to this house as well, and for her to feel at home she will need some nostalgia things from the 1960s. I think these ones are wonderful. Just look at the telephone, the TVS, and the old gramophone.

A smaller house might get built faster

This sweet little house that looks like a pastry is smaller than the others and probably also takes less time to build. It’s really nice in all its details, and the staircase, which is a must have, is also there. It’s on the outside and it’s really pretty. Look at that nice entry with the tiny outside lighting, a perfect little house.

Dolls also want to go camping

Both I and my daughter thinks the dolls should get to go on vacation sometimes, and there’s nothing better than a travel trailer. I already bought this once, but it hasn’t arrived yet so I can’t yet tell you how hard or easy it is to build, but I will return with a report. It’s made of wood, and all the furnishing, all the small things and all the lighting is included. Studying all the little details and everything being included with the trailer convinces me that it will be excellent.

Building a dollhouse using wood, It will be great. I've ordered a cheap dollhouse. It's completely unfinished inside. I want to wallpaper it and put lights in it, maybe some floorboards and carpets. I'm so excited to start! But where do I start!? Do I need to do the lighting first, then the flooring and walls? Anyone who does this as a hobby that could give me some tips? Thank You
