The Different Plants and Herbs
Improvement of Daily Lifestyles
I have dug in and dug out. Planted in and soiled in, to make the planting ground good and rough.
I planted a few new plants and need to allow for more space for many herbal plants.
The new season has got me started on many ideas to plant the new flowers.
I enjoy the cooler weather from September up until end of March.
A time of year with lots to do around the house and, especially my urge to get my garden up and fresh again for the new season.
My new ideas gave me an opportunity o look forward to gardening and to make my place look beautiful.
My different interests in plants and herbs have allowed for me to get into the gardening mood.
I planted daisies last summer, and did not think it would last all winter, to my surprise the daisies were in full bloom all winter.
Due to climate change we did not have a cold winter as it should have been.
The green surroundings makes me feel alive, happy and so full of life.
Good weather brings on great ideas and joyful times.
I live in a small community and most people here prefer planting vegetables.
I prefer some vegetables and mostly to plant different types of plants.
Roses are among my favorite and recently I took a fancy to Bougainvillea.
Gardening has never been a priority in my past life.
I discovered fig trees, nut trees, olive trees, and laurel or bay leave trees are among the most commonly grown trees in Croatia.
The climate is suitable to these plants.
We have a few olive trees and plum tress close to our home also, a cherry tree, and a little peach tree.
I like to pick my own fruit when ready to eat. This is simply the way of enjoying my new life.
New fruit and the little experiments allow me to learn more about the Croatian culture.
We tried making our own home-made winter liquors.
The last season I made a few new flavored liquors from our plentiful pears. Another flavor from some of our own grown ginger. Also, I tried to make the mint liquor.
The many different strong flavors made the unique tastes.
I spent time in tasting all the different flavors. Among my favorite liquors are mint, the ginger, and pear flavors.
All the new flavors of liquors are great combinations.
The pear liquor has a strong taste with its unique flavor.
Fortunately, from our garden of many kinds of fruit and herbs I can make many liquors.
A chance to experiment with the many different herbs and to add my cooking.
It is not a waste of time to plant and spend time in my garden during the summer days.
The incredible feeling drives me to keep on doing what i enjoy best.
The old oak tree provides us with shade. I learned of the useful daily.
I use celery for salads and for the lovely flavor it has in foods.
I planted lavender and watched it grow for a few years expecting the lovely flowers to appear. The herb showed off its flowers four years later.
The Lavender I have has a rougher kind of leaves. While the other type has a smoother leaves and has flowers the French Lavender plant.
The Red tulip pops up in April. Red makes the garden look brightly-colored and attractive in between other plants.
I made some mint sauce. A very simple way to make mint sauce, and with so much of mint available in my garden I couldn't let it go to waste.
Mint sauce goes well with lamb. It has been a while since I made mint sauce for a roast lamb.
Different garden interests show me more ideas.
The last season we planted broccoli and it turned out to be our best crop.
It has grown to my knowledge that the many outdoor activities has got me interested in loving my gardens and in trying new plans to make my garden look attractive.
The local people plant vegetables work in their gardens at the beginning of every season.
In November people plant beans called Bob in the Croatian language. A winter vegetable.
Artichokes are eaten in January.
Croatia has a tree called the Lipa tree. I picked a few leaves of the Lipa tree but did not make tea. A beautiful huge tree with flowers and is close to our home.
The Lipa tree is named after a coin called Lipa in the Croatian currency.
I have learned lots of Croatia and the value of the rich culture it has. A traditional lifestyle and different to my lifestyle.
Most of the local people prefer to live as the past generations did with old traits.
Modern life in the villages is not practice.
People who live in town buy their own vegetables and those who live in the village plant their own vegetables for their own use.
Most people in the village are proud of their garden work and prefer the laid back lifestyle. The shepherd takes care of the domestic animals, and is proud to mention this to other people.
The culture is preserved and is respected as any other culture would be with great appearance and acts of dignity.
I know I should not lose touch with my culture it is just as important to me as the Croatian culture is to the local people. All of which allows me to appreciate both cultures equally.
I know to appreciate both lifestyles and habits. I see and enjoy talking to the local people.
Sometimes life can be tough and with laughter everything feels possible.
Lots for me to grasp from both sides of this life and I do have those lonely days but I pass each day with a smile.
I knew I would improve in learning a new language. My new surroundings gave me the opportunity to take charge of my life.
Nobody will do that for me, I got to make my life happen peacefully.
People see things from their own perspectives as I do. A learning lesson for both cultures.
This is an opening to a new world and a new life for me.
It means a lot to me when I see my great improvement.
That shows in my lovely surroundings and garden.
Croatia has not only taught me my fourth language also, a new culture to learn from and to truly be myself.
Everything I do and learned from allowed me to see another way lifestyle.
It is a new experience to plant and keep gardens neat and tidy.
I had no interest in gardening until I moved to Croatia.
I try to keep up-to-date with work around the house and have adjusted to that change.
I have a schedule daily.
Time for everything on my list keeps me occupied.
Being self-sufficient is a healthy way to improve your eating habits.
I feel fit and enjoy picking vegetables as well as fruit from our garden.
I learned new ideas for the garden and of a new culture.
The improvement of another lifestyle has taken me by surprise.
I enjoy new challenges. Croatia is a great place to raise your child.
