7 Foods That Make Your Metabolism Faster

Updated on November 6, 2014

Are there certain foods that make your metabolism faster? Yes there are. The more of these foods that you can add to your daily eating plan the easier it will be to consistently lose 1 – 2 pounds every week or maintain your hard earned fat loss for the long term.

In some cases you can get creative and use more than one in a meal or snack to really boost that metabolic rate. We will start with 7 foods today in this article though I recommend that you educate yourself on nutrition basics to learn about more for a successful and healthy fat loss journey.

7 Foods That Make Your Metabolism Faster

Food # 1 – Egg whites. I know, I can hear you cringing already! An egg white is one of the best foods you can eat to boost your metabolic rate. Superb nutritional value as it is low in fat, low in sugar and high in protein. Each egg white has only around 15 calories, yes you read that right 15 calories!

Make the egg white your best friend because he also holds onto your muscle tissue while you are on a fat burning plan. The more lean muscle you hold onto the faster your metabolic rate, even when you are resting or sleeping!

I make my egg 6 x egg white omelettes very well done and crispy brown, with added crushed chillies, cucumber, mushroom and onions. No cringe factor in my kitchen, just making my bland nutritious food tasty. Try adding your own negative calorie foods to your egg white omelette for flavour, even an oatmeal egg white pancake is great too!

Food # 2 – Cinnamon. This spice is very well known for its fat melting qualities, it will also aid in lowering your cholesterol levels too.

Food # 3 – Apples. This superb negative calorie fruit will put you into a calorific gain. A typical 75 calorie sized apple will take your body 100 calories to digest. Use apples as both a snack and a starter before a main meal to ensure you are full.

Food # 4 – Oatmeal. This has been a mainstay for bodybuilders who are looking to strip there fat for contest time, so that should tell you something as they are the masters of metabolism boosting.

Mix with water and add low GI fruits for a sweet flavour. Not just a breakfast meal but also a snack any time of day.

Food # 5 – Green Tea. This wonder drink will boost your metabolic rate and give you some antioxidant protection for your cells, healthy all round. There are some lovely tasting flavoured green teas that have kept their healthy catechins which boost your bodies thermic effect for metabolism boosting value. Drink 3- 4 cups every day for best results.

Awesome, these are all things I really enjoy anyway. The only thing I think I do differently though is to eat the whole egg. I've always found just using egg whites terribly wasteful and I feel in good enough shape now to risk eating the yellow part too.

I had no idea about mustard. I eat the other foods and maybe that is why I wear out my family with all my energy.
