10 Simple Ways to Fall Asleep
Sleep is the most important part of your night. You need to rest your body with a good night's sleep. According to TheGoodBody, nearly 27% of Americans struggle falling asleep at night. There are a variety of reasons for people's struggles to fall asleep. I have a few tips to help you get a good night's rest.
1. Set a Schedule
Set a consistent schedule to go to bed. This will help you to quickly fall asleep. Your body will get use to this schedule over time. You may begin to notice that you feel sleepy around this specific time. That's a good thing. It means your schedule to sleep is working!
2. Fin a Comfortable Position
Put yourself in a relaxing position to fall asleep. Your body needs to be comfortable when you are laying on a bed. You will struggle to fall asleep in an uncomfortable position. Everyone's body is different. Find the right position for your personal comfort.
3. Avoid Caffeine
Do not drink any drinks with caffeine at night. Those drinks will disturb your sleep. You may struggle to fall asleep at night due to caffeine's effects. Caffeine does the opposite of helping you go to sleep and keeps you awake.
4. Do Not Drink Water
Furthermore, do not drink a glass of water before going to bed. Water can cause your body to produce urine while you are sleeping. Then, it may cause you to wake up at night to urinate, and you would need to go to the bathroom. This will disrupt your sleep. It can become a major problem if you wake up multiple times due to your body producing urine.
5. Do Not Use Your Mobile
It is time to put the phone on the table and go to sleep. You can struggle to fall asleep when you use your mobile phone at night. Sometimes we are too engaged in social media that we forget the need to take a break from it. You will fall asleep faster by not using an electronic device.
6. Engage Your Imagination
My favorite method to fall asleep at night is using my imagination. Your mind and body relax during this method. Engaging your imagination helps you fall asleep faster. Close your eyes and picture a fantasy in your mind when you are trying to go to sleep. Try this method and you will fall asleep faster.
7. Listen to Music
Music has an effect on the parasympathetic nervous system that helps your body fall asleep. Adults will fall asleep faster and sleep longer when they listen to relaxing music. You will feel refreshed in the morning. Music leads to restful sleep.
8. Go to Another Room
If you cannot fall asleep in one room, then move to another room. Your body needs to be comfortable. You may need to sleep in another room to relax for the night. I suggest going to a quiet room. There will not be any noise or distractions.
