100 things to love about life

Updated on March 15, 2013

Making the decision

    • Life is the most wonderful gift that any of us have been given, we can bend it, shape it, and make it into anything we desire. The only difference between merely living and actually loving life is simply a decision.
    • A decision to be thankful for each blessing no matter how small, a decision to be happy no matter what...
    • Happiness by Abraham-Hicks
    • "We are really advocates of just getting as happy as you can be - which takes care of everything. Even if you don't have reason to be happy - make it up. Fantasize it. Make a decision that you're going to be happy one way or another - no matter what.
    • No matter what, I'm going to be happy! If I have to ignore everybody; if I have to never watch television again; if I have to never pick up a newspaper again, I'm going to be happy. If I never have to see that person's face again, I'm going to be happy. If I have to see that person's face, I'm going to find something to see in that person's face that makes me happy.
    • I'm going to be happy. I'm going to be happy. I'm going to be happy."
    • --- Abraham (

    • )

A tribute to love...

  • "I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love."
  • ~Mother Teresa
  • Above all in life, I am thankful to have and abundance of love to both give and receive.
    • ♥ 1. A lovers divine kiss.
    • ♥ 2. An unrestrained hug from a child.
    • ♥ 3. The natural friendship that lies within a marriage.
    • ♥ 4. The unconditional love of a grandmother.
    • ♥ 5. The pure innocent and never wavering love of a pet.
    • ♥ 6. The solid trust that comes with true friendship.
    • ♥ 7. Snuggles no matter what the source, man, child or beast - snuggles are the best!
    • ♥ 8. Those moments when you look at someone and your heart and mind instantly fill with love.
    • ♥ 9. The little things that people do that say "I love you" far louder than any diamond ever will.
    • ♥ 10. Giving gifts to those you love, far more gratifying than receiving any day.

The things we feel...

  • "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams; Live the life you've always imagined."
  • ~Henry David Thoreau
  • When life gets too hectic, when I really need a break my favorite thing to do is just stop and feel the moment. I am a very tactile person, I love to experience all I can through the sense of touch.
    • ♥ 11. A warm bed on a cool day, especially when you know you don't have to leave it!
    • ♥ 12. The heat of a summer sun on bare skin.
    • ♥ 13. An ice cold swimming pool on a hot day.
    • ♥ 14. A super hot bath, as hot as I can stand it.
    • ♥ 15. Having my hair brushed by someone I love, truly exquisite!
    • ♥ 16. Textures! Silk, satin, velvet, Egyptian cotton... I just love touching them!
    • ♥ 17. Walking into an air-conditioned building on a scorching hot day and feeling the cold air rushing into your face.
    • ♥ 18. Crawling into a freshly made bed.
    • ♥ 19. My husband drawing on my skin with markers.
    • ♥ 20. Feeling my husband snuggled up on one side and my dog snuggled up on the other when I wake up in the middle of the night.

Satisfaction awaits...

  • "Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you've had everything to do, and you've done it."
  • ~Margaret Thatcher
  • Satisfaction can be found most often where we least expect it.
    • ♥ 21. Setting a goal and reaching it, no matter how unimportant it may be to the rest of the world.
    • ♥ 22. I love researching a great variety of topics, the rewards are those moments in which I find that bit of information I was seeking.
    • ♥ 23. One of my greatest joys is when I know I have helped someone else find a small amount of peace in their life.
    • ♥ 24. Sometimes my children don't know I am watching them, and still choose to do the right thing... then I know I have done my job.
    • ♥ 25. It brings me happiness when I give something away that I don't need, knowing that it is going to someone who really does need it.
    • ♥ 26. When someone is having a bad day and I am able to put a smile on their face.
    • ♥ 27. Being there for someone in need, at the very moment they need it most.
    • ♥ 28. Facing fear head-on and learning that my fears were totally unfounded.
    • ♥ 29. Doing the right thing always feels better than doing the easy thing.
    • ♥ 30. Taking just a few moments to speak to a stranger, and finding in them a new friend.

The simple things...

  • "Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction."
  • ~E.F. Schumacker
  • If it really is the simple things that matter most, then I have a truly blessed life indeed.
    • ♥ 31. There is nothing like good food, and if it is food then it's all good.
    • ♥ 32. Starting a new book is like setting out on an adventure.
    • ♥ 33. Finishing a good book is like making a new friend.
    • ♥ 34. When my husband lays his head in my lap and looks into my eyes, life is wonderful.
    • ♥ 35. My children give me these simple gifts, a painted rock, a carefully chosen flower, little love notes... and those mean more to me than all the gold in the world.
    • ♥ 36. A few moments of silence after a long and hectic day, especially if those moments are spent outside communing with nature.
    • ♥ 37. Those moments when the words in my head finally come unstuck and flow onto the page exactly how I envisioned they would.
    • ♥ 38. Taking the time to compliment someone.
    • ♥ 39. Just saying "I love you."
    • ♥ 40. Candy Corn, plain and simple, I love candy corn!

What makes me smile...

  • "A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give."
  • ~Author Unknown
  • One of the greatest things my Grandmother ever taught me was to always keep a smile on my face, the spirit can't help but follow and they really are contagious.
    • ♥ 41. Newborn babies, they are so small and innocent and they smell so good! I am obsessed with their tiny little fingers and toes.
    • ♥ 42. Watching kittens and puppies play.
    • ♥ 43. Pictures that my kids draw for me, and the stories they sometimes write to go with them.
    • ♥ 44. Watching my husband do manly stuff.
    • ♥ 45. Being a kid again! Making mud-pies, snowmen, and coloring in coloring books.
    • ♥ 46. Singing Broadway tunes with my kids, and they know all of the words.
    • ♥ 47. My dogs, they are the silliest creatures ever.
    • ♥ 48. Monty Python and Eddie Izzard.
    • ♥ 49. Reading your comments on my articles, lenses and blogs.
    • ♥ 50. Writing something and knowing that people actually read it!

Only mother nature...

  • "From the living fountain of instinct flows everything that is creative; hence the unconscious is not merely conditioned by history, but is the very source of the creative impulse. It is like Nature herself... prodigiously conservative, and yet transcending her own historical conditions in her acts of creation."
  • ~Carl Jung
  • I love the peace that comes from spending even a few moments with mother nature.
    • ♥ 51. The soft sounds of natural running water, Listening to the wind move through the trees, eavesdropping on two birds conversing with one another.
    • ♥ 52. Watching a small insect struggle with a large burden and succeed.
    • ♥ 53. Sunrises, sunsets, and sunbeams breaking through the clouds.
    • ♥ 54. The way the air smells just before it rains.
    • ♥ 55. Watching animals interact with one another and their strange rituals.
    • ♥ 56. Waking up to a fresh blanket of snow laid across the landscape.

Very nice! I love all of them and couldn't decide which ones are my favs. We need to stop everyday and appreciate the life & love we've been given. I think many people forget to stop and smell the roses, take for granted the blessings they've been given. Your lens, gives everyone something to be thankful for! Beautiful job!

Good to catch back up with you and see the similarities in things we all love. You've come far pilgrim... as a Giant and Giant 100... wow... congratulations! I've always considered your writing style and talent outstanding and Giant like.... so hope to get by to some more of your lenses/blogs soon. It was nice to see your kind comments on Correen's Squid Report and that you found encouragement in my early comments... thank you! As you have so beautifully stated above... that's one of the "feel-good" things to love about life! See you again soon. :-)
