11 Home Remedies to Combat The Flu

Updated on October 17, 2014

Why Look Into Natural Remedies?

Many have had the flu shot only to find themselves getting sick with the flu or flu like symptoms, I myself have received the flu shot once in my life and that is actually when I got the flu. This does not mean that the flu shot is not good, but it does not work for everyone, (what does?) each person is different, what works for one may not work for another. By all means if you find yourself getting sick you should see a doctor. I am a certified Herbalist, I have been into herbal remedies all of my life, I was born in 1950 weighing in at 3 pounds. My lungs were poorly developed and I was very sickly, I was in and out of the children's hospital until the age of 10. I was using an inhaler for asthma and my parents were told that I would have to be on an inhaler for the rest of my life and that I would not be able to run and play like normal children. Well my grandmother who is American Indian did not go for that at all! She made me run track, and I played basketball in Junior High (I won some trophies) I was in gymnastics and dance. Whenever I got sick with a cold or had an asthma attack my grandmother used natural remedies from common everyday foods and herbs. some that I remember her using a lot are garlic, onions, cayenne pepper, fruit flavored brandy's, basil, sage and many more. I have not used an inhaler, taken medicine or been sickly from 11 years of age until now at the age of 64.

Are Natural Remedies Effective? Natural remedies have been around since the beginning of time and if they did not work they would have fazed out by now, most of those old time remedies are still around and being used. Do they work all of the time and for everyone, just like anything else in life, nothing works all of the time and is effective for everyone, but on the whole Natural Remedies work very well, they have been tried and tested with time and many testimonies.
