3 Reasons To Eat Pomegranates (Or Drink Pomegranate Juice)!

Updated on April 29, 2013

1. Pomegranates May Prevent Cancer

The cancer-fighting potential of pomegranates is largely due to their very high antioxidant content. Antioxidants reduce the risk of diseases such as cancer by helping to protect the body against cell damage from free radicals. Pomegranate juice contains more antioxidants than most other juices, red wine, and even green tea.

2. Pomegranates Are High In Vitamin C

One pomegranate can provide over 40% of your Daily Value of vitamin C. Getting enough vitamin C is very important for overall health. It helps strengthen the immune system and is important in repairing and maintaining body tissue. It also plays an important role in the production of collagen. As an antioxidant, vitamin C may lower the risk of disease and slow the aging process.

3. Pomegranates Are Antibacterial

Pomegranates contain compounds which have demonstrated antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Research suggests that pomegranates and pomegranate juice may help protect the body against a wide variety of common germs and pathogens.

Very informative article. Pomegranates are truly one of mother natures gifts. I recently found an awesome Pomegranates jelly and it is scrumptious.

Mmmhhh... pomegranates are delicious. I sometimes have that juice with other juice mixed in it... it is very healthy. My Yoga teacher recommends we all drink it. Great health tip for reasons to drink juice.
