Lose 10 Pounds with the 3-Day Diet

Updated on December 28, 2015

The 3-Day Diet

This diet plan is used for three days at a time. It is normally used by doctors and the military, and uses all natural products, and no pills. If you follow it correctly, you can lose up to 10 pounds in three days, and even 40 pounds in a month.

How does it work?

  • It focuses on mixing certain types of foods that create a reaction in your digestive system. The chemicals are supposed to boost your metabolism and help you burn fat at a higher rate than usual.
  • After three days of dieting, resume eating normally for three to four days afterward, and do not overeat. You can start your three-day diet back up anytime if you like after that.
  • It is a calorie diet, so your weight will be shed quickly, as long as you eat the same amount of calories in any type of food. If you're bored with the food, you can replace them with another food item with the same calorie count if you'd like. This will help keep you interested in the diet.

Note: This article does not provide medical information. If you are at any medical risk in undertaking a diet such as this, please check with your doctor. Check with your doctor in general if you plan to change up your diet.

  • Mustard
  • Cooking spray

Some people use the following substitutions for the 3 day diet:

  • Orange instead of grapefruit
  • Tuna instead of cottage cheese (and vice versa)
  • Frozen yogurt instead of ice cream
  • Cauliflower instead of broccoli (and vice versa)
  • Green beans instead of broccoli or cauliflower
  • Beets instead of carrots
  • Toast instead of 5 crackers (and vice versa)

My Thoughts

While I am aware this diet won't be for everyone, I know it works for me.

If am feeling a little bloated or lethargic, I do my 3-day diet and it really seems to help make me feel better, give me more energy, and get me back on track with my weight loss goals.

I hope this has helped you! Please feel free to share your experiences below.

I'm on day 2 and I have definitely shed water weight. I simply can't drink black coffee, so I am having skinny cow ice cream cones and putting 1% milk and 1 tsp sugar in my coffee. I'm an ice dancer so I get over an hour of cardio a day. The tuna seems to fill me up.

This is an interesting way of losing weight and the menu sure looks appealing to the eye. I must say taking black tea for breakfast is quite a tall order though. Impressive, really that is if it works. maintainhealth.net

This is actually a diabetic diet plan. My great grandmother got this from her doctor and used it for years. She even carried extra copies around with her because she thought it was so amazing. I know she lost over 100 pounds on this diet.

I just started this diet and found a very through Three Day Military Diet app to help keep me on track. You can do it however you want but I think using an app will make it much easier to follow.

It wasn't a hard diet to follow, the 2nd day lunch I had the tuna and crackers, was dry. So 3rd night dinner I put mustard in the tuna, wasn't bad and so much easier to eat then dry. Try it like I said wasn't bad. I lost 3 lbs. Maybe tomorrow it will show more. Hope Hope.

If you wanted to eat 1/2 cup tuna and 1/2 cup cottage cheese, instead of a whole cup of one or the other, would that be ok?

Also, if you can't eat the whole dinner all at once (I got really full after just the meat and cup of carrots the first day), is it detrimental to spread it out and eat the other stuff later/as a snack? I know this diet is supposed to work due to the different chemical combinations of the food....but I also don't want to completely stuff myself at dinner. Any advice?

So do u drink tea/coffee on all meals the 3 days and is there a substitution for melon?

    • profile image

      anonymous 4 years ago

@anonymous: the reason its one cup the first day and half cup the other two is because the other two days you have 1/2 cup banana and the next day a cup melon which are both a source of natural sugars thus reducing you ice cream intake these should not be taken out for extre ice cream thou becauze the two different fuint also provide other nutrients that the ice cream does not

@anonymous: 8 ounce portion the cups in grocery stores vary please use common sense before asking questions

    • profile image

      anonymous 4 years ago

@anonymous: grilled veggies with no cooking spray or butter or oils works but when for example it says 2 ounces take half of that and add it to the 2 ounces so in this case it would be 3 ounces

@anonymous: half n half apple, pomagranite,or cranberry juice will work, btw it half juice and half water

@anonymous: n painkiller have no effect in most cases

I just finished this plan and lost 4 pounds! My husband lost 2 pounds. Not too bad. It wasn't awful, and I was only super hungry on the last day. I followed it to the T and also worked out daily with www.dailyhiit.com. Be smart, and substitute other lean meats if you don't eat fish or beef franks. It's not rocket science, it's nutrition science.

I would like the author to please let us know if indeed the first day's dessert is 1 full cup of ice cream whereas the other two days, it's 1/2 cup. We still ate the 1 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/2 cup and lost weight, but I just wanted to clarify.

when it says "cup" do you mean an actual 8oz portion of something or do you mean whatever amount is in an individually wrapped cup at the grocery store?
