5 Easy, Simple Ways to Have an Amazing Day!
Upon waking, in those few moments before rising, take a moment to truly be grateful for what you have. Whether it’s your husband, wife, children or parents, friends, your job, your health; take time to reflect on how fortunate you are to have that in your life. Even if you are going through a rough patch, there is always something to be grateful for. My list is so long I can’t enumerate it all here, but some of it is: For being born and living in the United State, for living in Florida, for health, for my fiancé, my children, my father, my brother, my mother’s in law to be, my job which allows me to work from home, for abundance, for the sun shining on my face when I sit by my koi pond…. Taking time to reflect on these things, brings more thing to mind of which I am grateful for.
Conduct yourself with kindness throughout your day and be amazed at the effect it has on not only your day, but the day of everyone around you. If someone cuts you off, let them go with a smile, speak words of kindness and encouragement to everyone you meet. Take time to slow down and listen to others, smile often. Temper all your words and deeds with kindness and you’ll find more kindness is what you’ll receive in return.
You need not paint the Cistine Chapel or write a poem. But stay in touch with the innate creativity you possess by thinking creatively about how to brighten someone’s day. That person could be your lover, your friend, your child, your parent or a total stranger. Perhaps you think about anticipating a need or desire of theirs before they even encounter it, like washing his car while he’s still sleeping or having a special snack ready for the kids upon their return from school. Maybe a homemade card sent to a friend for no reason at all other than to say how much they mean to you. The possibilities are endless.
The universe, the world and all of us are constantly expanding. We are constantly growing and expanding. Expand yourself by increasing your acquaintances, your perspective and your knowledge. Yesterday, I had the good fortune to expand my knowledge by reading some terrific posts online. I learned about Meditation, The True Measure of Mindfullness, and rounded it all out with an article on Writing and Publishing.
Love is the highest and best emotion we possess. Be loving to everyone you encounter today. Open your heart to others with compassion, empathy and by realizing that regardless of how different people may appear, we all are cut from the same cloth and have the same basic wants and needs. Be forgiving of people who cause you hurt or pain and send love back to them instead of angst.
Try out these 5 simple things for just today and keep it up all day. I guarantee that your day will be filled with harmony, kindness, thoughtfulness and love. Even just the simple act of smiling at everyone you pass will greatly improve your day. Pay an earnest compliment or two by looking for qualities to appreciate in others and see how much you'll start noticing about how terrifc people are! Have a great day and be thoughtful!
