Updated on July 19, 2015

Memory is indeed our wealth. We store thousands of memories and moments in our brain: first day at school, first kiss, first job and the meeting, which changed all life.

But when we grow older our memory can worsen, and it, as a rule, gives a lot of inconveniences.

How to avoid it?

Ayurveda gives us some useful tips to follow.

Sattvic foods

Sattvic food cultivates clearness and health memory, while promoting purity of body and compassionate mind.

Sattvic foods are pure vegetarian foods, which are grown naturally without artificial flavors or preservatives.

Add to your diet fresh fruits and vegetables, almonds, milk and ghee, honey and carrots. Drink carrot, beet juice and exclude meat from a diet.

Keep fasting

Try to stay on fruit diet within 3-5 days with daily taking of triphala before going to bed ( just delute 1/2 teaspoons in a cup of hot water). If you are inclined to a hypoglycemia (low sugar of blood), such diet won't suit you.

Indian people believe in powerful curative forces of Triphala. They think it can heal any disease, rejuvenate the skin and eyes, while nourishing the mind and promoting longevity of the memory.

Triphala is also used as a mild laxative, it is a gentle purifier of the body.

Remedies on a basis of ginkgo biloba have salutary effect, increasing and strengthening brain blood circulation and improving the memory.

Before going to bed, drink a glass of warm milk with brahmi. Warm 1 glass of milk and add about 1/2 teaspoons of brahmi to infuse it about 2 minutes. It will considerably improve memory.

Brahmi powder is also very useful for mind, as it enhances the memory, improves coordination, gives relaxation to the nervous system, while reducing the stress and anxiety.

For better results you could also use brahmi oil.

Just apply some oil on your head, spread it gently and massage all over during 10-15 minutes.

It stimulates the brain activity and calms down your mind.

Keep walking

Daily walks by foot in the fresh air at fast speed improve blood circulation and give oxygen to brain tissues, while stimulating the memory power. Walk for 30 minutes a day will keep your memory strong and youthful .
