5 No Nonsense Reasons to Stop Smoking

Updated on June 21, 2014

In this world everyone has choices. For instance, we all have the choice to smoke, well almost everyone. Second hand smoke is very dangerous for everyone, and definitely has an affect, whether smokers know it or not. Everyone who can smell the smoke is breathing in the smoke. That is not just an odor you are producing, that is toxins in the air. The problem with this is that the smoke that is being inhaled from second hand smoke is not being released. In a way more smoke could be in your kids lungs than in yours. This hub is for my grandma, and any family that has had to deal with a loss from smoking. These are my top 5 reasons to quit smoking.

5. Your Health

Your health should be very important to you. In order for you to be healthy life takes changes. Now, I am not preaching the diet and exercise, go to church, only do wholesome activities thing here. Although there are many things you could change about yourself, and many things other people may want you to change. This is specifically for you to know. This is specifically smoking, although the rest is important. (hint hint). Just saying though. The effects that smoking can have on your body are immense. There are literally so many reasons, that I would have to write another article on them. They range anywhere from brain and heart, all the way to your stress levels and blood pressure. The risk are also to your family. That is why it is important to remember about....

4. Second-hand Smoke

Yes, it does effect others in your surrounding area. When ever you even smell smoke, you are at least inhaling a little bit. The problem with this is that we don't exhale it. That's right it just sits there and festers inside us. When you smoke you open up the world to the poisons that are in it. At least this is my belief. (for the lawyers). Everything you smell gets into your system, if you smell smoke its, because you are inhaling it as well. Have you ever passed a restaurant and smelled amazing food, for the most part you tasted it a little bit. Most people do not consider who they are putting at risk, children especially. In households where smoking is prominent, children are put at risk with every puff. The smoke, unless well ventilated, lingers it doesn't just disappear. Its not ninja smoke people. Which brings me to my next point...

3. Clothes and Surroundings

Smoker's smell, yea I said it. It's gross, honestly. When you go to someone's house who smokes you will realize something very different outside. Yup, you know it reeks of smoke. When you quit smoking cold turkey, you will notice the smells too. You smokers need to realize your house smells like that for everyone who walks in. I am not saying all houses, with smoker's, smell like that. Some people only smoke outside, good job you guys. You still smell when you come in, but anyways. The smoke that I said stays and doesn't go anywhere, yea that goes into the wall. That's right your walls if white, are now yellow. I can personally tell you, I have seen the damage, its not pretty. So your clothes reek, and your house looks like it got painted by a smoke bomb. Hey, at least you have money right, wrong.....

Smoking cost money...Every penny counts.

2. Money Away

That's right you are paying someone to slowly kill you. I personally like to look at it like that, because its true. I have seen people shelling out whatever to get there fix, and not even look at the price. All, that will happen is a little complaint, but no hesitation to pay. If you smoke a pack a day at 6 dollars a day. You pay $42 a week, $168 dollars a month, $2016 a year. Want to buy another car. To bad you spent all your money on seeing how fast you can get cancer. I don't even understand how people have that much money that work at places with lower pay. I struggle every week. I guess that's because, I have a house and a car, and don't live with my mom in a basement. No offense, your just dumb. While there are reasons to live in your moms basement that are fine, getting your nicotine fix instead of paying rent or a mortgage is not one of them. Which leads me to my top reason to not smoke.

1. You

That is all. You. Do this for yourself. You need to realize everything in this list can be drastically improved, without cigarettes in your life. Your money will be yours again. Your health drastically improves every day after you stop smoking. After the first half hour, your heart rate will drop, after about 12 hours your carbon monoxide levels will drop. So forth, and so on. Although there is help, like stop smoking cessation lines it will still be up to you to stop. Smoking cessation may help you, it is worth looking into. Even stop smoking forums, are everywhere. Stop smoking forums can also be anonymous. It is not up to anyone else except you. No one will fight for you. We will certainly try to help. You, however, will be alone on this road. Fight for your health.

This is not to be taken lightly. Smoking cigarettes is very dangerous for everyone. With the growing amount of smoke shops that are being built it can be hard to withhold, but you must be strong. It is not easy to stop smoking cold turkey. With support from friends and family, stop smoking cessation help, stop smoking forums, and the knowledge of how your health can improve, you will be able to succeed. There is a time and a place for weakness this is neither. You need to understand how important this is to you and your family. I am here to help if you can not find anyone else. I have lost to many people from smoking, and I have seen the loss affect many lives. This is why I have made this article and this is why it should not be taken lightly. Save your life, and save others at the same time. Change may not be easy, but it will be worth it in the end. To all my friends and family who have lost someone from smoking, my condolences.

What do you think the most important thing about not smoking is?

Have you ever tried to stop smoking cold turkey before?

This is also in your lungs. Enjoy.

      5 additional (silly) reasons:

      5. Monsters will attack you. It hasn't happened yet because they are very patient, but rest assured, it's coming.

      4. Smoke makes people want to stab your face with Taco Bell sporks.

      3. Any babies who breathe even a whiff of secondhand smoke will grow up to become prostitutes.

      2. Jesus frowns upon smokers. So does Tom Cruise. (It's the one thing they can agree on.)

      1. Because f@*k you, that's why!
