5 Ways to Cope with Stress

Updated on April 13, 2016

What is Stress and How to Deal with it?

The daily grind that we all go through is a daily stress in life. Some are light, some good, some bad, some mild and others are too much to handle.

We all go through problems and pressures in life. It may be because of work, family, or with daily decision making. With all these, it is really hard to fight sometimes. But life does not have to be loaded as we think it is, we can actually fight the battle of being stressed from all those pressures that we are in.

Commonly also, stress and being down usually occur and happen during the cold or winter months, maybe because of the wold weather, it has an effect to our moods and so being down also happens.

Being down also happens when we don't get what we want or we cannot have what we wanted.

There's a way to battle stress, the natural way. It is helpful to prevent the mental or psychological ilnesses before they appear because when they do, it will be a big battlr to get throuh and heal from them. Starting with the natural way is the best way to deal will illnesses conditions. Dealing with them through medications is usually the last option and usually medications are only to help the person, dealing with them naturally is stil, the best way to do it as what most psychiatrists would suggest.

These are my own ideas and my opinion based from what I have observed working in the psychiatric OPD ward. If you have any problems and you feel that something is really wrong, better seek professional help about it.

Good Stress or Bad Stress are the Same Stress

Stress is a daily living we all go through. It can be a good stress and for some a bad stress. It is when too much bad stress that happens in our life that sometimes, we cannot just pull through then that others go througn some illness like depression because of it.

Some people go through stress in a very different way. Some can easily handle it and is cool in dealing with it. While others are not able to cope up that easily and have little to none coping capabilites to stress. That is when these illnesses related to stress comes in and when these psychological and mental illness sinks in, it is not that easy to just break through with it. Some will really need professional help and medications just to get through and be healed with it.

At some point, we all get stressed. It is when we are bombarded with a lot of things at once and we are finding it hard to cope or solve.

Everyone at some point in our life have and had experience this, it is a matter of coping it that we are in this state that we are right now. But I am sure it was also not that easy to take and to handle. I had my own taste of stressful moments also and sometimes, it really did get me to the point of giving up, but hey, I am totally okay now. We can all fight this with a little help. I am giving away this idea from my point of view and from my own experience.

My FIVE Natural Ways to Deal with Stress

1. Identifying and Acceptance

The first thing to really do is to know that you are stressed and identify what are the stressors that are stressing you out. Identification will lead to acceptance of the things that are stressing you out and then will be easier for you to know on how to deal with it. Other people are in denial and sometimes will have this displacement attitude when they are stress which in the long run, is never helpful for him/herself or for the people around.

Acceptance of the things in life as they are. That life can sometimes be unfair. That life has its ups and downs, the good and the bad times. Accept also that there are things that are out of our control and some things are out of plan, that way, we can accept life's imperfections positively and move on in the future faster.

Accept that life is made up of learning through mistakes and sometimes mistakes comes with hurt, and we know that it is never that easy. But learning from them can make life a little lighter.

We have to learn from all the things in our surroundings and learn to accept the good and the bad things in life.

2. Praying and Being Positive

Praying may seem very common and perennial but this actually works. Have faith and trust that in time, it will all fade away. Be patient to wait because what we ask for from Him, we also have to earn. that's why faith is needed. Do your stuff and leave the rest to Him.

For some, they do not believe in prayers, I am not forcing you to believe either but why not try, there is totally no harm in trying. In the end, it is Him that we will all go to. Some people just dont believe in good things with prayer. But what are the things you will lose when you actually pray and believe and then in time, everything will happen as you prayed for? Nothing but you actually gained even more.

Being positive also that prayers really works. It may not be today or tomorrow but believing that it will happen in time. Believing and being positive that these bad times that is happening now will soon pass away. If the good times did, so will the bad. Learning to relax and being positive about things helps a lot with life and with attitude. When you are positive in life, positive things will happen along also.

3. Learning to Laugh and Let Go

In other terms, have a great sense of humor and learn to laugh at things. Remember you are not alone with that kind of experience and you will never be alone in dealing with it.

It is a matter of laughing at things that you will learn to see things differently and take things lightly. There is something in humor that one will learn to see things in a very different way and in a way that makes life a bit easier and soon, much more simplier.

Let go of hurts and the past. Learn to see the bright side of things. Learn not to hold on to things that does not do any good to you.Learn release negative energy inside you. Learn to open your arms and release all those bodily tension that you have from problems and the stresses that you are in and learn to trust that in time, everything will be OK.

Learn to laugh like a child, try it and you will see.

4. Finding and Talking to a Friend

Yes, after all those crying and heartache and sulking it all in, why not try to talk it all out. They could be anyone, a sister, brother, Mom, Dad, a friend, a close friend, your husband, your wife, etc... It actually lessens the pain and burden when those are blurted out. Its like the problem has been shared by two when you let it all out. Go out and socialize more, why not try Facebook, you just haveto be extra careful here because not all people are nice, some are just hereto tease and bully you. You just need to be very extra carefulin here.

A lot of us know that talking it all out could actually help. Try it, nothing to lose anyway, just problems and a lot of saliva. :) Releasing the tension by talking it out out is one of the best way to let go all of those negative energy within and release the stresses from your mind and body. Shouting is different though. You can be angry but never have the right to be rude. Learning how to be angry is different from just talking and releasing the stress.

Take your time to be out and get busy with them or might as well get busy with some worthy things to do like donating, visiting orphanages, or visiting people. Sounds not good right?, okay let's put it simply as get yourself busy with anything to get busy with. You will find that life actually is not that as it seems and that life if still blessed. Do it, it can make you more fulfilled in life. You will feel that there is more to life than sulking in and you are blessed more than you know.

5. Seeking Professional Help

Lastly, this is your last option though, to talk to a professional like a psychologist or a psychiatrist. They can identify what is wrong with you and help you encourage yourself to do what is necessary to help yourself recover from all these stresses that you are going through.

You think I would not mention this, hey after all those that I have mentioned and still you are down, then maybe you need a professional help already. It is matter of taking first those steps before you decide that a professional help is needed because it is worse than expected.

What do you think is the best thing that will work for you in combating stress?

Setting some personal goals and staying focused and motivated by your passions is a good way to get busy and feel like you have an actual purpose and reason to live. Balancing that with good friends and a good diet definitely helped me. I love this lens by the way!
