7 Simple Ways to Natural Detoxing

Updated on June 17, 2015

In our fast paced life, we tend to neglect our body by taking it for granted and end up stuck in the vicious circle of an unhealthy lifestyle. As a result, a lot of toxins and harmful substances get accumulated in our body which not only have an adverse effect on our health but can also have serious farfetched problems. That is why we are advised to detox our bodies from time to time. Detoxification means getting rid of all the toxic materials from our body that have been accumulated because of bad eating habits and unhealthy lifestyle. Detoxing is necessary because it cleanses the body from within and hence, makes you feel refreshed and more energetic. Once the toxins are flushed out, the essential juices are well absorbed by the body, giving you a cleansed and healthier body. Detoxing, along with a healthy lifestyle can do wonders for the body.

Below are some simple ways to detox naturally.

  1. Include a diet rich in fruits:

Fruits are the best detoxifying agents. Fruits are rich in antioxidants and vitamins. Having a diet rich in fruit has several health benefits. It not only keeps the digestive system sound and purifies the blood but is highly beneficial for the entire body. Opt for colourful fruits and vegetables as more colour means more vitamins and antioxidants.

    2. Avoid alcohol:

Over consumption of alcohol is responsible for accumulation of toxic substances in our body that adversely affect the functioning of the entire system. To thoroughly cleanse the body, say no to alcohol in any form.

    3. Adhere to food rich in fiber

It is a well-established fact that a healthy diet is the one that includes a lot of fiber. It flushes out all the toxins and undigested waste from the body and hence keeps the digestive system working properly. As a result your bowel movements become regular and stomach ailments like constipation etc. are kept at bay. Fiber is a must for an efficient detox process. You can make your diet fiber rich by inculcating green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet. Whole grains are also a good source of fiber.

    Drink plenty of water:

Water is a wonderful liquid. It helps the body to get detoxed naturally. Regularly drinking plenty of water flushes the toxins out, thereby thoroughly cleansing the body. Drinking at least 10 glasses of water daily keeps the bowel movements sound and help you acquire a healthy and glowing skin.

    5. Say no to added sugar

If you really want to detox your body completely, then curb your sweet cravings. It might seem a bit difficult for people with a sweet tooth, but adjustments need to be done if you want to embrace a healthy lifestyle. Cakes and cookie have a lot of added sugar that results in abrupt changes in the blood sugar level. This adversely affect your entire system and your health.

    6. Embrace fasting:

Giving your digestive system a rest for a day is very essential and helps fasten the detoxing process. Fasting means that you skip food for a day and instead consume only fruits and water. Remember, it doesn’t mean that you have to starve yourself for days together. Fasting for one day a week is enough for the digestive system to relax and rejuvenate. It triggers the natural detoxing process and leaves you with a healthier digestive system.

    7. Go green tea:

For a detox program to work well, you need to cut down on your caffeine intake significantly. Replace your morning coffee with a cup of herbal green tea. Rich in antioxidants and low in caffeine, green tea is a boon for our body.
