A Financial Freedom Coach Is Like a Weight Loss Coach

Updated on September 3, 2015

Financial Freedom Coach

A financial freedom coach and a weight loss coach – how are they alike? What do they have in common other than the fact that they are both coaches?

But, what’s a financial freedom coach? Is that some new-age type of coach? Or some coach only mega-celebrities and Donald trump can afford?

A Financial Freedom Coach, Money Coach, Wealth Coach – Call it What You Want

Financial freedom coaching is just another name for a money coaching, wealth coaching, or financial coaching. Adding freedom to financial coach is just a bit of promotion or hype – if you are a money coach and you want to take that name, go ahead, I’ll let you!

But, consider how much a financial coach is like a weight loss coach. What are you talking about, you ask? They are two different things, aren’t they?

A Financial Coach is Just Like a Weight Loss Coach

So – you’re a financial coach (and you’ve begun using the term financial freedom coach), and you are wondering how you are like a weight loss coach. Let me tell you!

5 Ways a Financial Coach is Just Like a Weight Loss Coach

  • You are trying to change people’s attitudes. One is trying to change their attitudes about food and nutrition, and the other is trying to change attitudes about spending, budgeting, saving, and investing. Can you help them think differently about fruits and vegetables? Can you help them think differently about budgeting and putting money aside for a rainy day or retirement?

  • You are trying to change people’s behavior and creating healthy and sustainable habits. One is trying to alter their views on food choices and exercise, while the other is attempting to change people’s attitudes about things they may need now and what they may want and need in the future. Can you help them stay clear of the fast-food drive-thru? Can you help them see why not buying a new iPhone every year or leasing a new car every two years can help them save money for the future?

  • Both types of coaches help teach long-term changes. Losing weight and keeping the weight off is about altering lifestyle choices and sustainable behavior change. Fixing financial issues is all about making long-term changes that will produce results in the present and the future.

  • You have to get them to believe. Belief occurs when bot their attitude and behavior has changed. Do they now love fruits and vegetables? Do they enjoy getting up and going to the gym? Do they understand the power of a budget and feel bad if they don’t keep it? Do they enjoy having more money left at the end of the month and watching their retirement account grow instead of playing with their brand new mobile device?

  • You are coaching health. One is coaching physical health and the other one is coaching financial health. Both types of coaching lead to good mental health! A financial freedom coach helps people get healthy just like a weight loss coach!
