Admit your age and learn from time

Updated on November 24, 2012

Our road in life can lead us through many side roads. Over many stones. Some which may make us fall , stumble and roll over. It is all a learning trail, a trail that leads to the end of our road, but a path, an opening, a thought for others.

We are by nature, natural teachers, through our example, our Love, our Faith and our caring attitudes. It all comes deep from within and sometimes takes years to realize we are trying to teach loved ones.

As the years add up, which they do so quickly, we as an individual may finally see what life really is about, some too late or some when very young just get it earlier then others! Bless those sweet souls.

Things are just things, actions speak louder then words, you can say anything you want...but what you do is what really counts, your example, your actions, your words, gentle or harse, your understanding, your FAITH, your encouragment, and it goes on and on, which you are totally in control of . Though you may not think about what matters, or counts, or anyone pays attention to, you have a bigger effect on others then you even will imagine.

Kind soft words, a smile, words of gratitude, a pray, a phone call, a letter, a Birthday card, a Get Well note, a HI on the Internet ...we are all connected to each other one way or another.

Famlies are now seperated by miles, though we can be connected by the modern ways these days, it is just not the same as being personal, with a hand written note. I am guilty of sending e-cards for Birthdays, Holidays and well wishes, but do attempt to hand write occasionally...seems a lost art any more.

So try to remember unless you have walked a mile in someone elses shoes, felt the pain they have encountered, you need to have mercy and pray for others. "What goes around, comes around", and the end comes way sooner then one ever thinks.

My Mom @92 died 3 months ago and she is still teaching me today...I have come to see the things that the elderly try to teach , that Faith is important, and Love from your heart only ...:O) Hugs G-Ma

This was a beautiful hub to read before I go off to bed. We learn so much from our elders. Wish our society respected the elders as is done in some cultures. Hugs

Wise words that will bring a higher level of respect to our elderly family members. I was taught to respect my elders and how much of a blessing they are in our lives. Loe your sharing here and so glad that your mother was such a positive role model in your life.

Yes we can learn much from older ones. If only more people would simply take the time to slow down and figure out this simple fact. They have wonderful, useful advice because, chances are, they have already been around those corners and can tell us what to expect. My heart goes out to you also. Great hub.

This is an excellent Hub. Recognizing the resources of age that are available to the youth of today is extremely important. Our task is to find a way to help the youth realize that us older people do have some acquired knowledge and experience that may be useful to them if they listen.

Well, although this was produced while you were feeling down, you did a magnificent job. How wonderful that you made a sad and difficult time something positive.

I know how you feel. Those days seem to hit me as I creep closer to the Holidays.

Sending so much love and tight warm hugs to you. XO

Oh G-Ma my friend - I send the most sincerest of sympathies and blessings for your dear Mom as well as yourself. You are both in my prayers.

This insightful and mature hub reminds me of a saying I find myself using as the years move on..."Youth is wasted on the young."

Wonderful and I am voting up and sharing as well.
