Affirmations For Depression And Self Esteem

Updated on July 18, 2015

For thousands of years yoga masters of India have used affirmations as one of the tools for lifting their students from natural human consciousness into the level of Enlightened Being. Since communication has long been quick and easy in the modern world the affirmation psychology of the East has been made available to western man and is being utilized by western therapists of many disciplines. They are now pretty much one of the standard members in the toolbox of most psychologists. When read daily the following affirmations will lift the reader from a state of emotional depression to a healthy and realistic self esteem. Give it a try!

I have a wise and loving friend within me.

I accept and experience all my feelings.

It is more healthy to express myself clearly and directly.

I am now creating safe ways and places to express my anger.

It is safe for me to be vulnerable.

I can reward myself for trying new things.

My dreams can come true.

I choose life.

My intuition knows what my body needs.

I now surrender to my body's needs.

I trust my body, I trust myself.

Through recognizing and acknowledging my blocks, I release and clear them.

I am now clearing my negative beliefs.

I have the freedom and power to create the life I desire.

Today I can listen and respond to my own needs.

I forgive myself completely.

I can sit down in a quiet place and get in touch with myself.

I will make an effort everyday to feel good about who I am and what I can be.

Today I will work on improving my abilities rather than my disabilities.

I am okay.

I can live in peace at a time of stress.

I cannot climb uphill by thinking downhill thoughts.

I can move away from self-defeating habits.

I have choices. I can choose new responses to old situations. I can learn to recognize my true needs and choose positive ways of satisfying them.

Understanding and respecting my limits, I can learn to say no to what might jeopardize my serenity and well being.

I need care and attention. I am responsible for seeing that this need is met.

I will give myself the care and attention I need.

The beginning I make today is never insignificant or unimportant. It is the foundation of my future.

I now have the opportunity to pursue my desires until I discover what brings me happiness.

I am free to do and enjoy the good things that come my way, and I am equipped to deal with inevitable problems.

I grow by doing what’s hard to do.

I am able because I think I am able.

I am stronger than I think.

It is not what happens to me, but how I handle it that determines my emotional well being.

I can trust my soul - it knows the way.

I can trust, honour and respect the process of change.

I have all the guidance, energy, ideas, creativity, power and ability to do all I am meant to do.

I can make each moment count today.

Facing and feeling my fears can empower me to move forward.

Many things are possible if I accept that the fastest way to achieve is one step at a time.

Whatever happens outside of me can never replace that which I can find within me.

Today I trust what I feel and listen to my inner voice. It does not matter if others disagree.

I do not dominate others or allow others to dominate me.

I am responsible for changing what I do not like in my life.

I can give up all my struggling and self-defeating messages.

I no longer want to repeat the same mistakes over and over - it is time to move forward.

It is time for me to grow up. I can now handle my own life with joy and ease.

I value myself today. I value everything about me.

This is another excellent hub. I've been practicing affirmations for a while now and I find this exercise to be very helpful. I also practice meditation & yoga. In your last article, you mentioned that consistency is the key to achieving results and I agree with your views. Hope everything is well.
