An Introduction to Energy Healing
Energy Healing is one branch of the much larger field of alternative medicine of “Energy Medicine”. The uses of crystals or sound are also types of energy medicine because they influence the physiological energy patterns through their vibratory patterns. Energy healing is the channelling of the energy field or aura of the healer to balance the energy field of the recipient and it is based on the principle that everything is energy and that energy follows thought. The healer can affect the energy field of the recipient by channelling their energy by the laying on of hands or by directing the life energy by the power of thought without any physical contact.
The healer will look to restructure the energy field by altering the quantity and the quality of the energy in the field to provide a more balanced and symmetrical situation. They will also look to remove blockages or obstructions to ensure a smooth flow of energy through the field.
There are many forms of energy healing therapies and new therapies emerge from time to time. Part of the divergence is due to the fact that the healers are all individuals with different backgrounds. Some therapies have a more spiritual approach while others a more scientific one. There are also therapies which have been developed by healers with backgrounds in conventional medicine and there are some with a very different focus altogether such as planetary healing.
A clear healthy and defect-free energy field equates to good physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. A blocked, weak and impure energy field usually occurs due to traumatic past experiences and if not treated problems of the mind body or spirit will result. Most therapies are based around treating the chakras of the patient and there are seven main chakras and these have their own character and they correspond to an aspect of our being. A chakra is not a physical object it is an energy pattern and there are five chakras on the spine and two on the head and they each have a color associated with them.
The first three chakra take energy from the earth’s magnetic force and they are considered to be feminine in nature. The last three chakra take energy from the sky or heaven and are masculine in nature. In the middle lies the heart chakra which connects the two.
