What are antioxidants?

Age defying skin complexion & structure. Is this the advertisement of the medicines available in the market which help us in looking young? Or is this article against the new products developed to cover up your wrinkled skin? No! The solution for this before the human race is the alkalis & alkalines available in nature itself. Like in the dreams, there is presence of these materials before us. These which can prevent the destruction & damage to the body cells are known as anti oxidants.

What are anti oxidants?

These can retain the youthful body in humans even if the person ages. Such vitamins & minerals which help in keeping our body healthy are known as anti oxidants. These have miraculous powers in keeping us healthy. Anti oxidants are better known as Beta carotene, lycopene, Vitamin C, Vitamin E etc.

Foods containing anti oxidants

Vegetables, fruits, grains, beans etc are the main source of these. In fruits apples, grapes, orange, peach, plum, strawberries etc & in vegetables beetroot, cauliflower, cabbage, onions, tomatoes etc are a major source. Nuts, fish, meat, chicken, various grains & cereals also have a lot of anti oxidants in them.

Beta carotene: Orange, sweet tomato, carrot, apricot, pumpkin, mango, leafy curries etc have lots of beta carotene in them.

Tomato, water melon, papaya, apricot, rose grapes, orange etc have lots of lycopene contained in them.

Lutein: Lutein is mainly helpful for healthy eyes. It is helpful in preventing cataract which is the main reason for blindness in old people. Leafy vegetables, grapes, yolk of egg, orange, beans etc are a major source of lutein.

Selenium: Selenium is found in the soil. The percentages of selenium in the soils of certain region are more. The fruits & vegetables grown in such soil also have high amounts of selenium in them. The muscles & meat of goats grazing in such regions also have high amounts of selenium in them.

Vitamin A: Milk, egg yolk, liver, tomato, carrot etc have large amounts of vitamin A in them.

Vitamin D: Vegetables, fruits, beans, beef, chicken, fish etc have lots of vitamin D in them.

Vitamin E: Sun flower oil, Soya bean, ripe mangoes, nuts etc have lots of vitamin E. Vitamin E protects the cell walls & tissues.

Functioning of anti oxidants

Anti oxidants can overcome bleeding, heart attack, muscle damage etc. Vitamin A, vitamins C, Vitamin E, beta carotene are all anti oxidants that prevent heart attack. Clotting of blood in heart valves & blockage due to fat deposits are all preventable with the help of Vitamin E.

Vitamin C help in the smooth blood flow. New studies reveal that Beta carotene, lycopene etc help in preventing muscle damage. Chemicals in Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, and B12 help in the increase of the performance of the brain.

The chemicals present in fruits & vegetables help in preventing cancer in humans.

Alzheimer’s, asthma, skin diseases, osteoporosis, menses problems etc can all be prevented with the help of these anti oxidants.
