Updated on December 27, 2012

Apple Cider Vinegar for Bacterial Vaginosis

Apple cider vinegar is a naturally occurring substance and an important ingredient of a number of food products. It has many other uses. Apple cider vinegar can be effectively used for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis.

Women often suffer from the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis. The typical symptoms include excessive vaginal discharge (grayish-white in color) and a strong smell. In some cases, there may be some burning or itching around the vagina. Doctors generally prescribe antibiotics for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis, but the symptoms are not cured permanently. Actually, different herbal remedies are much more effective in curing this disease.

Apple cider vinegar for bacterial vaginosis treatment is very effective and it cures the disease permanently. It is very easy to use and does not cause any side effects. Apple cider vinegar is slightly acidic in nature. It has also got antibacterial properties. The inside of the vagina is also acidic in nature. But, when the vagina becomes alkaline with a pH value over 4.5, it helps in the rapid growth of bad bacteria and kills the good bacteria. This causes bacterial vaginosis. Apple cider vinegar can reduce the alkalinity of the vagina and helps in destroying the bad bacteria.

Apple cider vinegar for bacterial vaginosis treatment can be done in three ways :--

(a) Drink one teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar in a large glass of water, two times a day.

(b) The second option is to douche with apple cider vinegar. A teaspoon of apple cider vinegar should be mixed with two cups of water and the solution can be used to douche the vagina. It should be done once per day.

(c) For the third option, mix a cup of apple cider vinegar with warm bathwater. Sit in the water for about half an hour. This will help to reduce the alkalinity of the vagina and destroy the bad bacteria. You should do it on a daily basis.

In order to get rid of the BV symptoms, a change of your diet is also necessary. You must have plenty of green vegetables, fruits, whole grain (in place of refined carbohydrates,) lean meat etc. Avoid excess sugar, white bread, pasta and other junk food. Get plenty of vitamins and minerals.

This will strengthen your immunity. There has been some research on the subject which has shown that bacterial vaginosis may be caused due to a deficiency in folic acid. So, you should have plenty of green vegetables, nuts, seeds etc. All these foods contain folic acid.

So, next time, when you suffer from the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis, don’t rush to a doctor. Instead, use apple cider vinegar for bacterial vaginosis treatment which will give you relief from your sufferings and help you to lead a healthy life.

I've started drinking it and douching . I believe I will take a bath also. I figure it can't hurt, your trying to make the body alkaline. Yesterday I drank 2 tablespoons and douched twice, still burning. First time doing this, always been on anti. But, it doesn't say how long, you know that you can feel all better here it comes again.

I've been suffering from BV for over 2 years and take metronidazole every time it starts, only to feel it come back a few days after the antibiotic course.

THIS has made such a massive difference and thank you SO much for that! I noticed my discharge getting better on the second day and its been almost a week now since I've been drinking Cider Vinegar and water and the discharge has become completely normal looking, as opposed to the yellowish one.

The itching, however, hasn't gone away. Could you please recommend something? That's the only thing that's bothering me now and I really want it to be cured so I can live my life normally again! Thanks.
