Ready For Your Baby Shower?

So your little bundle of joy is on the way. Be sure to welcome him, her or them into the world with an awesome baby shower. I've put together some articles, ideas, links, tips and other stuff to help make baby shower planning a piece of cake.

Planning a baby shower can be really fun. You can create your own party as you wish. You can go traditional or throw in some humor to liven up your event. You can choose whatever theme you want. Unleash your creativity. The main goal is simply to have your baby shower unforgettable and fun for everyone.

No matter what baby shower game ideas you choose to put into practice, you need to be prepared with supplies and materials to give to your guests. A baby shower favorite game is 'Guess Mom's Tummy Size'. You'll have to pass around string or yarn and scissors and ask every woman to pull the yarn to the size that she thinks it would fit the mom's pregnant tummy. After you compare the strings with your tummy size, you'll designate the winner and give her a prize. This means that you need to be prepared with gifts to offer to 'game winners'.

'Name Baby Items' is a favorite too among other baby shower game ideas. Give every guest pen and paper and ask them to write down as many baby products as they know, within a time frame: three or five minutes. Just as with our other game example, the winner will get a prize. This is pretty much the essence for a regular baby shower game, and it's impossible to run short of ideas as long as you have the Internet within reach. It is online that you'll find most resources, and it would be a pity not to take advantage of them.

A Simple Guide to Baby Showers

Having a baby? What better way to let all your overjoyed family, friends, and colleagues share in your joy than to come to your baby shower! Strange as it sounds, it leaves the burden of searching and looking for baby stuff in the hands of the guests.

So now that you're going to have a baby shower, what kind of shower will it be? It's most common for others to throw the shower for you, but hey it doesn't hurt to have a few ideas up your sleeve in case someone asks.

Are you going to choose a theme? If so, what theme? Do you want it to be based on color? If you already know the gender of the baby, you can always go with pink or blue. Maybe you want to base the shower on baby items such as a pacifier or a baby bottle? How about character-themed baby shower like Sesame Street, Disney Princess, Looney Tunes or heck even Spiderman?

Some of the most popular baby shower gift ideas are baby gift baskets, layette gift sets, vital baby equipment, beautiful baby linen, a baby massage set, or a baby gift card. Some guests will create their own baby gift basket, while many will go for the classic clothing baby gift basket where you can never go wrong. Monogrammed baby gift baskets are always a hit, fun baby basket, mother and baby basket, gift basket for twins, or a pampering baby gift basket are a few other ideas.

It's best to hold the shower four to six weeks before the baby is due. Remember to write down the guest list and what gifts everyone brings. This makes it a lot easier when it comes time for the thank you cards. Play some games, eat some cake, pass out some party favors and have a blast. Before long you'll be too tired to party!

Baby Shower Games

Here are some simple games to play at your baby shower.

Sing It, Baby!: The guests participants form a circle. They can sit or stand. Then, each guest must sing a line or two from a song that has the word "baby" in it. When the first game player has finished, the next person seated on her right has ten seconds to sing another "baby" song. "Baby" songs cannot be repeated, thus, participants who repeat a song or cannot think of a "baby" song get booted out of the game. Last person singing in this baby game shower wins the prize!

Measuring Up Mommy: Have a couple of toilet paper rolls ready and ask each participant to estimate the size of mommy's girth by cutting the toilet paper to their guess size. Then each one wraps around the new mommy's stomach the toilet paper they cut. The nearest length approximating to the mommy's stomach wins the prize!

Don't Say Baby: This baby game shower makes you NOT say what you are supposed to be attending to! Don't say "baby" during the entire length of the baby game shower for the diaper pin that was given to you upon your arrival will be taken away from you. The person with the most number of diaper pins collected at the end of the shower party wins a prize.

The Seventh Gift: We all know that the single lady who catches the bride's wedding bouquet is said to become the next bride. In The Seventh Gift, it is not so much a baby game shower but more of a fable that says that the giver of the seventh gift unwrapped will be the next expecting mother. However, avoid "planting" the seventh gift.

Dig Out the Pins: The baby game shower that tests the agility of the guests as they fish out the most number of diaper pins from a large bowl filled with uncooked rice and diaper pins in under two minutes. The participant that has the most number of pins brings home the prize.

Have fun!

Another baby shower game you might consider is Baby 4-1-1. It is a great game that helps prepare the new parents on taking care of a newborn and preparing them for the delivery room. It says it is a baby shower game but it is a game that the couple can play at home over and over and learn at the same time. I found it at www.baby411inc.com but you can find it out on the web at several stores.
