Before we get started...
My name is Robyn and welcome to my blog! Before we get started, I just wanted to give you a little bit of information about me and my life and then throughout this next year we'll be able to journey together through which is going to be one of the toughest comebacks of my life, so here we go...
First, a little history lesson...
Let's just get the basics of 'me' down first with a couple fun facts:
- I am 20 years old.
- I studied Kinesiology at Acadia University in the beautiful little town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia for 2 years.
- I'm currently taking a year off from school and have moved back home to Ottawa, Ontario, which is where I'll be starting up my studies again in the fall at Carleton University for Cognitive Science.
- I've played competitive ringette as a goalie for approximately 14 years, and have had the opportunity to play for Team Nova Scotia at the Eastern Canadian Ringette Championships.
Okay, those are probably the 4 most important facts you're going to need to know in order to follow along and keep up with all the ups and downs we're about to experience together, so just stay with me!
Where we're at right now...
A couple of days ago I had ankle surgery to repair some ligaments that I tore while being a dumb, drunk university student (no sense in lying to you we are in this journey together)!!
Where we want to be...
I'll get into all the fun ankle injury details in a separate article, I promise! But I'm just giving you a quick lay down on what we're trying to accomplish.
So ever since hurting my ankle over a year and a half ago, I haven't been able to skate and/or play ringette, which as any retired athlete will know, is a heartbreaking way to end your career. However, I don't plan on ending my ringette career, and this surgery was my way to start getting everything back on track so I'm able to go out with a BANG.
In about 5 months, I'll be trying out for the Carleton University ringette team, and hopefully by this time next year, I'll be able to say that I went to Nationals as Team Ontario with those girls, its just a matter of getting there.
Big dreams, I know, but thats why you and I are here to stay on track, stay motivated, and make this sh*t happen!
Some motivation to remind us why we're about to work so hard to get to the top
"To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift"
Here we go...
Alright, thank you so much for doing that quick little read through of my life, and I'm so excited to spend the next year with you!
