VERY IMPORTANT ADVICE

Absolutely every single time wash the watermelon before cutting it. There are a lot of chemicals and bacterias on the shell which will be transferred inside the fruit on its pulp through the knife. So, wash the fruit really well with cold water before cutting into it.

What Does The Watermelon Contain?

In case you haven't known the watermelon is 92% water which makes it highly recommended it dehydration. It also contains a lot of vitamins, like: Vitamin A, B1, B6, B9, B12, C, D, E; and a lot of minerals and nutrients like: magnesium, potassium, calcium, zinc, iron, selenium, lycopene, phosphorus, fibers and many others.

Is Watermelon Suited In Weight Loss Diets?

There are nutritionists who say that the watermelon isn't good to eat when you are trying to lose weight, and there are other nutritionists who go the opposite way and highly recommend it especially when you are on a weight loss diet. Who is right? I think the second group is thanks to the latest research and considering the amount of calories the watermelon has.

For 100 grams of product we have 30 calories, 10 grams of sugar and 0,15 grams of fat, which is really not much at all.

Just like any other food, watermelon can make you fat if you eat too much of it. Even salad can make you fat if you have huge bowls of it with fatty sauces. So, if you choose to eat 5-6 kilos of watermelon daily you will see pounds adding up instead of losing them.

Watermelon is great in weight loss diets because it can replace a whole meal just by having one or two slices, it hydrates your body, helps release stored water which makes you look puffed, helps digestion and beside the fact that it is a meal on itself it is also a great replacement of heavy desserts. You won't find a less caloric dessert as natural and great for health as the watermelon is.

If you can replace two daily meals with watermelon it would be even better and you will see results faster. Remember to eat it as it is without adding any toppings or anything like that to the portion. No ice-cream, sprinkles, whipped cream, sugar, honey, cakes, cookies or who knows whatever else comes through your mind. Plain watermelon, nothing else.

The watermelon's seeds are also great for digestion and losing weight so, if you can eat those too the benefits will grow exponentially. There are people in Asia who turn the seeds in snacks by roasting them, but if you can chew them alongside the fruit, then just do that.

Health Benefits Of Watermelon

As I said before, one of the main health benefits of the watermelon is that is improving your digestion and fights constipation thanks to its high water content and fibers.

It helps you have a healthy looking skin and hair thanks to Vitamins A and C which makes your body create natural collagen.

Watermelon is a great fighter against different types of cancer, especially prostate cancer, offers protection in front of cardiac diseases, fights asthma, reduces inflammations in the body, helps regulates blood pressure, which also helps treat erectile dysfunctions, and strengthen the body's immune system.

As you can see this fruit is kind of like God's gift to humanity, and it also tastes amazingly good right?

A Few Recipes Suggestions

Now that you know just how wonderful and amazing this fruit is I think all you have left to do is to just start eating it. Replace one or two meals with slices of watermelon and you will feel satiated, hydrated and also lose some weight in the process.

If having the same slice of watermelon every day seems too boring for you, although I find it just perfect, then you can try a watermelon juice, prepared either in the blender or straight in the watermelon after removing a part of the peel and using a vertical blender to crush the pulp and seeds together.

You can blend the pulp and seeds, place it in a covered box and put it in the freezer to make some sort of watermelon sorbet or ice-cream if you add some banana or blueberries to it.

Make a fruit salad with watermelon, kiwi slices, bananas and all sorts of berries, and have not more than two cups of it.

Have fun with it, create any crazy recipe that comes to your mind as long as you don't alter its natural way by adding anything chemical or sweet to it.

Go have a slice of juicy, sweet, watery watermelon. I know I will.
