Swimming is a great way to revive physical and emotional health. It has the potential to improve muscle tone, flexibility, cardiovascular health without putting a strain on physical body. Not only it puts negligible strain on our body, it also helps to recover our stiff joints and assist those who are recovering from injuries.

The benefits of swimming goes beyond the physical realm. This exercise helps to release hormones in our body which makes a swimmer feel happy and content, forgetting all the stresses of daily life. Swimming helps to calm down our nerves and makes us feel more peaceful and content.

Regular swimming is also beneficial for healthy weight management. Regular swimming helps to burn calories depending on the individual workout. As swimming is fun, most of the swimmers tend to forget that they are doing exercise and lose weight naturally. Butterfly stroke tends to burn the highest amount of calories as compared to other strokes.

In today era of fast food eating, sedentary lifestyle and long working hours, diseases like hypertension and diabetes are increasing at alarming rate. Swimming helps to reduce high blood pressure and even stabilize blood sugar levels. There is no substitute of eating healthy food. However, exercise like swimming, help to maintain good health and it can be one of the preventive measures from chronic diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes.

Swimming helps in the prevention of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis occurs due to low bone density and swimming helps to improve the bone density. This disease is common among menopause women. Simply doing regular swimming laps can help to prevent from osteoporosis.

Swimming can be the best workout for arthritis. Arthritis is stiffness and pain of joints due to inflammation. Swimming tends to improve the flexibility of joints and reduce the pain gradually. Earlier times, arthritis used to occur in old people but lately, even young people tend to suffer from this ailment. Hence, swimming can be an effective way to keep your health in good condition.

In summary, swimming is a great way to enjoy life and receive all the health benefits too. The secret of swimming is available to all of us and we can choose to use it for our own benefit.

      Thanks Mary. Yes, swimming is wonderful exercise. Sometimes, we tend to forget swimming due to our busy schedules and personal commitments. It is never too late to start again. I too started swimming again after a big gap of 2 years.
