Best Anti-Itch Skin Cream - Hydrocortisone Cream For Itch Relief
If you suffer from eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis then you'll understand what itching skin is. There are some great anti itch cream products that are over-the-counter treatments - safe to use and will bring a relief to the intermittent or constant itching that these skin disorders can cause.
I have met many clients over the years that have particularly sensitive skin and, having been a sufferer of dry itchy skin most of my life, I am fully aware of the misery that can come with being perpetually irritated by the need to scratch in order to seek temporary relief.
The following anti itch creams are the best selling otc products on the market. Hopefully they will help you find the relief that you seek. They're all soothing, generally hydrocortisone based and can be safely bought over the counter.
Member's Mark Hydrocortisone Cream
If you want a cheap, effective otc anti itch cream - this is one of the best. It will work across a variety of skin disorders as well as deal with generic rashes and reactions to insect bites. It contains enough aloe vera to create a soothing effect overall and does bring relief from itching to many that have purchased and used it.
For a little over 8 dollars you get 4 x 2 oz tubes - and anti itch relief from a cream that's generally highly rated across the board. Repeated use (when required) leaves the skin feeling quite supple, moisturized and soothed. Nicely packaged, cheap and will bring you the relief you're seeking.
Cortizone 10 Intensive Healing Lotion, Eczema and Itchy, Dry Skin
This is a great anti itch cream - as well as being a being a product that's focused on being an effective eczema treatment. It contains a range of botanical ingredients, vitamins and moisturizers as well as the ever important hydrocortisone.
One or two have stated that it's a miracle cream. It's not - but it does work. I don't mean to throw a negative light on the cream so much as inform you honestly that whilst it will reduce and in some cases clear up eczema - it doesn't do it after the first application. After several applications you will see a marked difference and of course reduced itching - but don't expect instant results re the eczema. In all - a remarkably active eczema cream that's also great at soothing the dreaded itching.
Corticool 1% Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Gel
This is the best anti itching skin gel. Some people find a gel based treatment alone brings a small measure of relief (I'm one of them) and this one also contains menthol which, as many will already know - is instantly cooling.
That's an issue with itching - usually whatever it is that causes the itchy skin in the first place - a rash, eczema, insect bites, allergic reactions and so on - leaves the area warm and inglamed- Menthol in a gel is heavenly. Whilst the gel cools the anti itching ingredients get to work - hydrocortisone, hypromellose (moisturizing) benzophenone 4 (protects the skin),benzethonium chloride (anti-septic properties), all of which add up to a great deal of relief from persistent itching. An able product, a great all rounder and recommended for anyone with general itching problems.
Aveeno Anti-Itch Concentrated Lotion
This is Aveeno anti itch cream and one of several products manufactured by the brand that combat itchy, dry skin and skin disorders. It's a steroid free cream - meaning that it lacks the usual active ingredient hydrocortisone, instead using more natural ingredients such as oats, and shea butter as the moisturizer.
The combination of almost all-natural ingredients do bring a great deal of relief for a lot of people and it is highly rated for its anti itch properties. It's regularly recommended by dermatology professionals and it's definitely worth trying if the steroid based creams have so far failed. Available in a range of different formats - lotion, shower and bath oil and a small 1 oz tube for daily use.
Sarna Anti-Itch Lotion
This is the best anti itch lotion and again it's a steroid free product. It relies upon menthol and camphor to soothe and cool as well as a variety of other ingredients that hydrate and moisturize. I don't recommend Sarna to those with diagnosed skin disorders such as eczema, as it's more of a gentle, broad-spectrum anti itching product.
It's far better for general rashes, sunburn damage, dry, sensitive skin and so on. Think of it as an in-betweener - great for mild itching problems that can occur to anyone for any number of accidental or naturally occurring reasons. It's one for the home medical box or even for the trunk of the car and days out. Will bring relief and especially good at cooling sunburn.
