Best Belly Fat Burning Foods for Faster Weight Loss

Updated on July 18, 2011

Yes, there are ways to burn belly fat faster!

What Are Belly Fat Burning Foods?

You are what you eat is true in more ways than one. Certain foods act like fat melters. These fat burners do this in different ways, but mostly by revving up your metabolism. By eating at least some of these foods daily, preferably one at each meal, you can improve your dieting success. You will lose more fat, especially belly fat, quicker. Read on to learn about the best belly fat burning foods for faster weight loss results.

Weight Loss Goals

How much weight do you want to lose?

See results

Try to eat foods that are high in fiber or protein, preferably both, each time you eat. Here is a list of specific, healthy, fat burning foods to start you on your way to faster weight loss. (And they're yummy, too!)

Eggs for Weight Loss? You Betcha!

Studies have shown that people who eat eggs for breakfast weigh less than people who eat other breakfast foods. They also weigh less on average than those who skip breakfast completely! Eggs are high in protein and B vitamins. B vitamins are important for digesting and eliminating fats from the body.

Whole Grains Are Some of the Best Belly Fat Burning Foods

Whole grain foods help keep your metabolism high. They have complex carbohydrates. These are the good carbs. They help keep blood sugar levels lower and prevent insulin spikes, which can add on the pounds. Try eating whole grain breads, pasta, and cereals, especially oatmeal.

Whole grains are high in fiber. Fiber helps maintain normal blood sugar levels, too. Fiber also helps with weight loss because it makes a person feel full faster and keeps you feeling satiated longer, so you end up eating less throughout the day. Win-win! Other fiber rich foods for you to enjoy while dieting that will still result in quicker weight loss are beans, prunes, raisins, apples, cabbage, celery, avocados, mangoes, dates, and broccoli.

Add Dairy to Your List of Fat Burners

Milk and yogurt seem to work in several ways to help with weight loss. Calcium actually speeds up a person's metabolism when consumed regularly. It helps to keep insulin levels from spiking after eating, which is a common cause of belly fat. People who consume more calcium lose more weight than those who don't include calcium regularly in their diets.

A particular naturally occurring ingredient in whole milk, conjugated linoleic acid, or CLA, is also known to reduce abdominal fat. Since it's a type of fat, CLA isn't present in skim milk and only in minute quantities in lowfat milk. CLA is available in supplement form.

Green Tea Is an Effective Fat Burning Food

Like tea? Well, if you drink several cups of green tea throughout the day, you will burn more calories and lose weight quicker. The ingredient in green tea called EGCG has been documented to help lose weight by burning more calories throughout the day when it is ingested. If you don't like green tea, EGCG is available in supplement form.

Beverages with caffeine work pretty much the same as green tea. Coffee and the new, popular energy drinks will help melt off the fat by burning more calories. Too much caffeine can cause side effects, however, so be aware. Consuming too much caffeine can cause nervousness, a rapid heartbeat, and other health problems. For people with heart conditions, too much caffeine can even cause death.

Some of the Best Fat Burning Foods for Faster Weight Loss Results Are Also the Hottest!

Hot, spicy foods rev up metabolism, resulting in faster weight loss. Try to eat at least one spicy meal or snack daily. The metabolism boost lasts for hours after eating.

Hot peppers are the most effective spicy foods to help get rid of the fat. Habaneros are the best choice to burn off the calories, if you can stand the heat! Add a little hot pepper sauce to your eggs or eat some chips and hot salsa as a snack. It's easy to add some spice to your meals and melt the pounds off in the meantime!

Buy Fish Oil Supplements for Faster Weight Loss

Eat Protein Foods for Faster Weight Loss and to Help Get Rid of Belly Fat

Adding a bit of protein to each meal will result in faster weight loss. Because protein is more difficult to digest, the body uses up more calories doing just that. Protein also helps build lean muscle tissue, which in turn results in an increased metabolism.

Avoid fatty protein and fried meat, however. Choose lean cuts of meat and fish. Baked skinless chicken breast and turkey are excellent protein choices. Lowfat cheese is another good protein choice for weight loss. Nuts are effective, too. Plain almonds are best. But remember small amounts- meat the size of your fist, a couple of inch cubes of cheese, or a small handful of nuts.

Fish is a protein that works for other reasons as well. The omega-3 fatty acids in fish seem to help with weight loss by cranking up the metabolism. Eating fish makes a person feel full longer, too. Don't fry fish if you want to lose weight. It's delicious grilled and baked. If you don't like fish, fish oil supplements work, too.

One Last Tip for Faster Weight Loss and to Help Burn Belly Fat

In addition to eating these belly fat burning foods, try to drink lots of water for even faster weight loss. Drink at least half your body weight in ounces daily. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, aim for 75 ounces of water every day. This helps flush fats and toxins out of your system. It also prevents water retention and bloating. If you drink lots of caffeinated beverages, you should drink even more water.

I disagree with whole-grains and dairy products for weight loss - I think the majority of people will experience better weight loss without them or at least by minimizing their consumption.

The rest I am in general agreement with.

It is a great post, due to the tips you are giving. A lot of people suffer from Belly Fat. Even if you get older, the facts are clearly seen.

I like especially that you mentioned the kind of food that you can use to loose Belly Fat. A lot of people think that belly fat is caused by bad eating habbits. Partially I agree, but there are also people for whom the genetic factor is decisive. We must not forget these group of people. Belly Fat Burners can help them, but there is more to it I belief.

Great hub! I'm having a problem though and wondering if you have any ideas for me. I have Crohn's disease and for the past 6 months or so I have had absolutely no appetite and have only been able to eat a little in the evenings. If I try to eat during the day, I just become nauseus and can't keep it down. I know this is unhealthy but between that and the meds I'm on, I've gained about 15 pds in the last few months and of course, it's all concentrated on my belly. Problem is, all the foods you mentioned, whole grains, foods high in fiber, dairy and spicy are all things that aggravate my symptoms. Any suggestions on what I can do? Thanks!

I agree with this. I think it's important for people to know they have to have at least some activity level as well if they are going to get weight loss. And they need to portion out the foods that are good. If you eat 4000 calories of the right food, you're still going to gain weight.
