10 Gifts that will Make Your Life Healthier
Shopping for gifts is an interesting experience and too often it unfortunately ends up feeling unsatisfying. What do you get for the person that has everything? What to you get for the person who's habits are changing? And what about the people who just aren't happy with anything?
I don't know if I have an answer for everyone, but I definitely have come across some amazing gifts for the diet, exercise, and health fanatic in your life. The great thing about these ideas is that they're even better for the aspiring dieter or health fanatic. It's a great way to inspire and motivate healthy habits and ideas, which is a sure-fire way to put a smile on your gift recipient's face.
Good luck with your shopping!
Everyone in my family received a Fitbit last year from dear old St. Nick and let me tell you - nothing will make a difference in your activity level like this will. Your Fitbit will record how many steps you've taken each day AND not only will it let you see how active your family and friends are, it will let you compete with them. When my husband and I are competing, we'll literally do jumping jacks before bed. Nothing else in the world could make us do that - except for this.
This is an awesome gift idea that opens up so many new opportunities for experimenting with new fruits and vegetables. I got a juicer for my birthday this past year and it was a total life-changer. The amount of nutrients that you can pack into a homemade juice just can't be matched. If you can spring for something this nice, your health fanatic will be a happy camper.
A CSA (community-supported agriculture) package is basically a subscription to fresh fruits and veggies from a local farm. You pick the size and time interval that you want and then pick-up your produce accordingly. You don't have much say over what you get (it's basically whatever is in season at the farm), but that's really the most amazing part. You are exposed to so many new fruits and veggies AND you usually get a ton of stuff, so you'll certainly have your fill of nutrients while your CSA subscription is going on. These are fairly common these days, so it will only take a google search to find one closest to you. I highly recommend you start out small because you will be shocked by how much you get! This is an awesome gift for anyone trying to be healthier, especially for people that may not have a huge budget for expensive produce (and great for the person that has everything!).
Anyone that is trying (and especially those that are succeeding...) to incorporate more veggies into their diet will find out pretty quickly that it is nearly impossible to clean lettuce (and similar veggies) without making a massive mess, wasting tons of produce, or just not actually cleaning it enough. A salad spinner is an awesome solution that not only makes the process easier, but will ensure that you're properly cleaning your vegetables which is so important these days. (It's also a less expensive gift option!)
Nothing is better than a nice soothing bath, especially for someone that is really active or trying to be more active. The great thing about these bath bombs is that they're really good for your skin which is a huge bonus. And if you're shopping for someone that already has everything, nothing is better than something consumable. I use bath bombs all the time so I love getting these as gifts!
Workout Clothes...or Gift Card for Workout Clothes
Sometimes buying clothes for other people can be challenging, but when you work out a lot (or are trying to) it is shocking how many workout clothes you go through. You need a lot of them, but you also wear through them pretty quickly. If you know the size of the person you're shopping for, then just pick out something cute and odds are they'll love it. And of course, consider a gift card to a nice workout store to give them an opportunity to shop for themselves.
Kettlebells are a great weight training device that have become really trendy over the past few years. There are kettlebell classes that you can take, but what's better than having everything you need at home? They're small, so they're easy to store somewhere which makes them a great addition to a make-shift home gym.
DIY Smoothie Jars
A while back, I found a great idea on Pinterest to make DIY smoothie jars and it was a huge hit! Basically, you find small mason jars and you fill them with dried ingredients that can be stored easily and are ready to blend up when you want to make a quick smoothie. If you pick the right ingredients, your gift will be adorable and healthy. It's a great idea if you're a crafty person that wants to make something with a special touch.
In this day and age, anyone in tune with their health is also in tune with yoga. You don't technically need anything to accomplish the vast majority of yoga moves, but it's always nice to have the extra bells and whistles that inspire the exercise. Yoga mats are necessary if you want to go to any class and yoga blocks are a fun way to try out new yoga moves (which most people don't own).
