Bring It: P90X Day 43

Updated on November 16, 2011

P90X, created by Tony Horton, is an extreme workout program that has been trying to confuse my muscles for the last 43 days. I tried asking them if they were confused lately but all they did was buldge a musclely smile and that was the end of the conversation. Muscle confusion is the concept behind P90X and is what keeps a person from plateaus during their get healthy schemes. Is it working? Well, I will let you know at the end of my 90 day journey.

Feel free to leave your comments below. I love hearing from you as you have been a big part of my success in staying motivated. Whether it is just a friendly hello or some extra health and advice tips, I appreciate any input you have. Thanks for your support!

Going for the Gold!

It is the last 3 reps that really count. Make sure those are those ones you push out. When your done, you should be at failure to get the results you want!

Bring It

Monday's are a hard day. It's a hectic day. It is the day where I have to get back into my groove for the week. That means waking up early to make lunches for my husband and kids, trying to get my work out done with minimal distractions, writing about it, and on top of it - it is results day. That means on top of those things I do every single day (the working out and writing and taking care of family), I have to spend some extra time getting all my measurements in.

Now, I don't want to complain about measurements. That is what so many people are hear for. I want to see the measurements, but taking the measurements can be a bit time consuming, causing my workout to start a little later than I would really like.

To make matters worse, I am not a fan of today's workout. Why - because it is super painful. The Chest, Shoulders, and Tricep workout is all about upper body. It is also advanced, making some of these moves ones that I can't even manage without bursting a blood vessel in my forehead. I will have to work up to it.

That just means one thing to me - to make up for the moves I struggle with, I have to bring it even harder to those I can do. So that is what I did. Boy did I pay the price for that. Every set with weights I did until complete muscle failure. It was impossible for me to do just one more repitition at the time. That is the point though, since the last three reps of each exercise are the gold. Those are the ones that will make the change. So, if that is true - today I become a millionaire. Ka-Ching! I promise I won't spend it all in one place.

My arms were feeling pretty good. In fact, as I went on my daily walk, I found it difficult to actually push my son in his stroller. You can only imagine how sore and worn out my arms must have been. On top of that, I am continuing with the additional ab workout each day. I was able to tell the difference that made from last week, so I want to see if this will improve the results!

How about you....

When it comes to results...

See results

The Results are in...

When they say slow and steady wins the race they weren't kidding. That must mean I am well on my way to winning the race, because when it comes to results... my body is taking it's sweet time. So here is what everybody has been waiting for

  • Weight lost - 5.3 pounds
  • Body Fat Percentage lost - 1.3 percent
  • Inches lost - 12 inches

Muscle weighs more than fat and looking at the results that is obvious. This is the start of my 7th week of painstakingly hard work - not one day has been skipped - every workout I have brought it! Personally, I would have liked to see the numbers on the scale a little lower, but the inches are worth far more than that.

This week I only lost 1 pound according to the scale. I am actually surprised at this since midweek last week I started seeing a change. You could actually see the weight just slipping off. Each day as I walked past the mirror I was doing a double take because I didn't recognize the person looking back at me. Yet, when I took my measurements, I only lost an additional inch as well. So, I don't really know what I was seeing, but the measurements I have are not reflecting what is shown in.

All and all, I can't stress about the numbers. Now is the time to focus even harder on my workout. As I edge toward midpoint of my P90X journey... as I get just a little closer to Day 60 and my next picture results... I want to prove to myself that this is worth it. I want to show everybody else how good only losing 5 pounds really looks.

So instead of focusing on the numbers, it is time to focus on what matters. How I feel and how focused I am with my workouts. Well, I feel great and I keep pushing play each day. So, whatever the numbers are, I am staying motivated!
