Weight Loss Benefits of Irvingia Seeds

Irvingia seeds contain a high amount of soluble dietary fibers which are "bulk-forming" laxatives. This means they delay stomach emptying, resulting in a more gradual absorption of dietary sugar This effect can reduce the elevation of blood sugar levels typical after a meal.

The seeds also contain the Irvingia adoptogen which normalizes blood fats, boosts the body’s ability to burn fat and may help promote normal cholesterol and c-reactive protein (CRP) levels, preventing CRP from adhering to leptin. (An adaptogen is a herb thought to instill a normalizing effect on body processes.)

Irvingia demonstrated beneficial effects upon leptin blood levels, followed by weight loss and inches off the waistline. Leptin is a hormone responsible for the signals to your brain telling you are not hungry anymore.

Irvingia Seeds Studies

The past decade three clinical studies have been done on the effects of Irvingia on weight loss.

The first test was conducted in 2005, the other two in 2008. In two of these tests two test groups were used. In one group the subjects were administered placebos and in the other they were given Irvingia.

The other studie had three test groups. One of the groups were given a placebo, one was given a Cissus extract and one was given a combination of Irvirngia and Cissus.

Conclusion of these clinical trials: In all three tests the group using the Irvingia showed a significant weight loss over the placebo and the Cissus alone.

What To Keep In Mind

Always look at the dosage. Some brands contain less of the active ingredient than others. Also make sure to be aware of additional ingredients.

Some products combine substances for a synergistic effect which can be beneficial. Green tea extract for example has demonstrated to help with weight loss but may also contain caffeine. (caffeine-free supplements are available.) In case you are a heavy coffee drinker, and also take a supplement with caffeine it may be an overload so keep this in mind.

I really enjoyed the additional information. Thanks again.
