Today's fast paced world...
Now a days everyone is hurrying to get somewhere else. Especially if you are a parent, many households are having to rely on two incomes just to make ends meat. So how do you find the time to actually get some time alone with each other or just time by yourself? Well as a mother of 7 sometimes it is a little tricky to do, but can be done. Especially since my husband is an over the road commercial driver who isn't always home to help.
If you decide to try to go out for your relaxation evening, then finding a babysitter will be necessary. The first place to try and look for an occasional sitter would be friends and family. You want to make sure that who watches your kids is someone the kids will already know and who you know is responsible enough to handle things. If that does not work, there are some very reliable services that can provide you with a sitter that they have already screened. But still make sure it is someone you are comfortable with. Because if you are not comfortable on your night out, you will not have fun.
Hard Part is Done....
Okay so you got the hard part out of the way. Now figuring out what you want to do shouldn't be to hard. Just think of things you enjoy, maybe something you haven't done in a while. Even if it is just joining a book club, watching a movie or even just taking a bubble bath. Anything that will help you to relax is the key.
Especially parents, the stress that everyday life puts on you just for being a parent is hard. Many people think that parents just sit around and wait for the kids to get out of school. That's incorrect. If you are a stay at home parent then during the day is when you are cleaning the house and catching up on your own chores to do. When the kids get out of school it's all homework or being a taxi service. Parents are on the go more than anyone else.
We are the maids, cleaners, fast food and taxicab all rolled into one body and that is not easy. We all need a little time to ourselves without having to worry about rushing around and how to find the time to fit everything into our day.
A nice warm bubble bath with some lavender candles and soft music, is my idea of a perfect evening. May have to wait till after the kids go to bed, but it is still my time.
Finding the time to relax is not only rewarding but also makes you feel better. It is also good for you health. Having the time to relieve stress will help to avoid many health problems that could arrive. Stress can cause some people to have high blood pressure, heart problems and eating disorders. The fast paced world has evolved into something that is affecting everyone. Many household have turn key children that come home to empty houses, because the economy has forced both parents to work. It is even harder when one parent is put out of work and you have to deal with one income instead of two. Studies have shown that worrying about money is the highest stress point there is. People have committed suicide over not being able to bring money home for their families. The world is in a spiral down spin and if we do not start taking care of ourselves there may be no hope.
Everyone needs to start taking time to relax. Slow down once in a while and just stay still, soak in a tub or visit a friend who you haven't seen in a while. Take that long talked about fishing trip or just walk on the beach with the one you love. In the end it will all be worth it.
When you go to look back on your life or your kids life at least you can have some very nice memories to reflect on. Instead of wondering where the time went and never having time to do anything.....
