There are many fads and trends when it comes to weight loss. One recent idea that has become pretty popular in regards to weight loss is the idea of trying to lose weight with hypnosis. Can this be done? That's what I wanted to find out.
Hypnosis is touted as being able to do many things, from being able to help you to quit smoking to being able to help you lose weight. Some people believe in the power of hypnosis, while others don't. But what is hypnosis, and where did it come from?
The History Of Hypnosis
Hypnosis has been around for many years. The term "hypnosis" was first coined by James Braid in 1841, and it is a shortening of his term "neuro-hypnotism," which means "sleep of the nervous system."
Since then, hypnotism has been used as both a parlor trick to convince people to cluck like chickens and as a legitimate medical therapy designed to fix smoking and aid in weight loss, along with many other things, like pain reduction and management.
Does Losing Weight With Hypnosis Work?
This is been a controversial topic for a long time. There are some people who absolutely swear that you can lose weight with hypnosis, while there are others who claim that it is impossible to lose weight with hypnosis.So what's the truth?
Let's look at some cold hard facts. Hypnosis certainly exists. That much is a scientifically proven fact. It is also true that hypnosis can be used as a form of mental suggestion, to where the hypnotized subject will be much more receptive to suggestions, whether those suggestions are things like "cluck like a chicken," or things like "lose weight with hypnosis."
Does it not follow then, that it is possible to use hypnosis to eat less, or to use hypnosis to exercise more, or do any other thing that aids in weight loss? Of course! It is entirely possible to use hypnosis to lose weight. All you have to do is use it in the right way.
My Conclusion About Losing Weight With Hypnosis
I believe that it is very possible to lose weight using hypnotherapy, if it is used in the correct way. While hypnosis is no substitute for actual diet and exercise, it can be used as an aid in losing weight, and every little bit helps!
