Vitamin D Prevents and Fights Cancer
Since there are many new discoveries being made, it is good to know that this article was written in August of 2011.
People can get vitamin D from sunlight for free and also many sell these inexpenisve vitamin supplements, so no one is going spend a lot of money getting this news out to people. So spreading the word to others depends on people like you.

The body cannot create a vitamin but your skin can create vitamin D so it is not a vitamin. A hormone is created in one part of the body and benefits other parts of the body.
In 2007, Time Magazine named vitamin D one of the top 10 medical breakthroughs of the year. In 2010 the RDA of vitamin D was tripled. In the last 3 years, 7 medical doctors wrote 7 books on vitamin D.
In 2011 webmd.com wrote an article about vitamin D deficiency and breast cancer. Johns Hopkins has an article about vitamin D and Prostate Cancer.
Is that all you got? No, I have a lot more! Moores Cancer Center proposes that cancer is a vitamin D deficiency.
Doctor of Public Health, Cedric Garland, (professor at U of CA) states that enough vitamin D (lifeguard levels) will virtually eradicate breast cancer.
The great and powerful Dr. Oz (Oprah's doctor that has his own TV show) has a video on about how vitamin D prevents breast, colon and uterine cancer.
Here is his video on The Power of Vitamin D. Also below is Dr. Oz on a much shorter video.
Andrew Weil M.D graduated Harvard college and Harvard Medical School. He says in the forward of the book, The Vitamin D Solution the following:
Increasing the amount of vitamin D in the body can prevent or help treat a remarkable number of ailments, from obesity to arthritis, from high blood pressure to back pain, from diabetes to muscle cramps, from upper respiratory tract infections to infectious disease, and from fibromyalgia to cancers of the breast, colon, pancreas, prostate and ovaries.
It is the only thing that can significantly reduce type 1 diabetes. See this article, Type 1 Diabetes, Like Autism, is Totally Preventable. For decades vitamin D has been the undisputed cure for rickets. The vitamin D books point out that vitamin D is not a vitamin since the body cannot create a vitamin. With sunlight the body can create vitamin D so it is technically a hormone. A hormone is produced by a system of the body that affects other systems of the body.
Harvard Medical School has an article Time For More Vitamin D . It says:
Hardly a month goes by without news about the risks of vitamin D deficiency or about a potential role for the vitamin in warding off diseases, including breast cancer, multiple sclerosis, and even schizophrenia.
However, in one of the few randomized trials testing the effect of vitamin D supplements on cancer outcomes, postmenopausal women who took 1,100 international units (IU) of vitamin D plus 1,400 to 1,500 milligrams of calcium per day reduced their risk of developing non-skin cancers by 77% after four years, compared with a placebo and the same dose of calcium.
Christiane Northrup M.D. is a best selling author with books on women's health. She has an article on the Oprah Winfrey website called Prevent Breast Cancer With Vitamin D (This link is good). On it she says:
There's a paradigm shift going on in medicine as new research reveals a far greater role for vitamin D.
In addition to protecting the bones and boosting the immune system, studies show that Vitamin D helps prevent certain cancers, including breast, ovarian, prostate and colorectal. [footnote 2, 3, 4, 5] Exciting new research shows that, in the United States alone, thousands of new cases of breast cancer could be prevented every year if more women had optimal levels of vitamin D. [footnote 6]
Johns Hopkins has an article about cancer and vitamin D called Vitamin D and Prostate Cancer. It says:
In addition, vitamin D is believed to help maintain a strong immune system and to regulate cell growth, differentiation (the process whereby new cells develop into distinct types of cells), and apoptosis (the programmed cell death that keeps cell proliferation in check). Out-of-control cell proliferation is the hallmark of cancer.
Sun exposure also appears to influence a man's risk of developing prostate cancer. Research suggests that men who were born in sun-drenched areas of the United States are about half as likely to develop prostate cancer later in life as men born in an area with low sun exposure.
Make sure to see Great Foods that Fight Cancer, The book on vitamin D with the foreward by Andrew Weil M.D. was written by Michael Holick M.D. He has an hour video about vitamin D on Youtube. He is a professor of medicine, physiology and biophysics at Boston University.
Years ago he wrote a book about vitamin D and sunlight and was fired by the department of dermatology at Boston U. See How Much Vitamin D Should You Take Daily for more on this controversial and complex issue. Here is an excellent article on 10 foods that prevent breast cancer.
Sunlight and Skin Cancer
See this article: Why the Highest Paid Model Does Not Wear Sunscreen. it has some funny, very entertaining videos on it. Like it has one video where God is arguing with a medical doctor (MD) about using sunscreen.
Make sure to see the Many Health Benefits of Sunbathing . Here is something interesting about sunlight and cancer. Dermatologists say that sunlight causes melanoma (skin cancer). One out of 10,000 Americans get hit by lightning. The chance of an American getting melanoma in any year is one out of 5,000. Sunscreen and sunblock causes skin cancer. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) list the number of people getting melanoma in each state at 4 different levels from highest to lowest.
Arizona, New Mexico and Texas are right above Mexico and get intense sunlight especially with the high elevations in Arizona and New Mexico. These states are in the lowest category of melanoma.
New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont are at the top of the country with a latitude that is higher (further from the equator) than parts of Canada. These states get such weak sunlight that at least 3 months of the year, you cannot get any vitamin D from the sunlight. These states are in the category with the highest amount of melanoma cases. Is it possible that dermatologists invested money in companies selling skin products and billions of this come from people buying sunblock and sunscreen that causes skin cancer?

More Information on the Above Video About Sunlight and Cancer
In the above video an author is debating with a medical doctor about sunlight helping you or hurting you that is a very controversial issue. Who is right? Here is information from PMC (PubMed Central) that is part of the U.S. National Library of Medicine. PMC is a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM).
However, excessive UVR exposure accounts for only 0.1% of the total global burden of disease in disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), according to the 2006 World Health Organization (WHO) report The Global Burden of Disease Due to Ultraviolet Radiation. DALYs measure how much a person’s expectancy of healthy life is reduced by premature death or disability caused by disease.
In contrast, the same WHO report noted that a markedly larger annual disease burden of 3.3 billion DALYs worldwide might result from very low levels of UVR exposure. This burden subsumes major disorders of the musculoskeletal system and possibly an increased risk of various autoimmune diseases and life-threatening cancers.
The best-known benefit of sunlight is its ability to boost the body’s vitamin D supply; most cases of vitamin D deficiency are due to lack of outdoor sun exposure.
So the above says that the ratio of how much sunlight helps people compared to how much sunlight hurts people is over 3 trillion times. OF course people will say anything to sell a product and sunscreen and sunblock are a multi-billion dollar industry making lots of money for many people.
