Celebrating My Three Years Of Sobriety
My Ebook and My Life of Alcohol Addiction
My Special Day
Everyone in the world has reasons to celebrate in their life such as all the major Holidays including New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, but for an alcoholic that has found his/her sobriety it is a much more special day to them.
I will be celebrating my three years of sobriety on October 27, 2012. Man does the time fly. I cannot believe it has been three years already without a drop of alcohol.
I am so proud of myself and how strong I have been to beat my inner demons for those years. I have had a positive attitude for the very beginning when I finally decided to stop drinking alcohol. In the beginning when I first made my mind up to stop drinking I wondered if it would be possible.
Others That Deserve a Ton of Credit
I would like to thank me beautiful wife of 31 years, Linda for all her love and support to me through this journey to seek long term sobriety. She has been my rock through thick and thin and has put up with many past years of my addiction to alcohol. She has stuck by me and supported me all the way and still does to this day. I love you Linda. You are the love of my life and the reason I got and stayed clean and sober.
I what to also thank my children, Joseph and Stefani for all their love and support to me while I make a new life for myself. They too were cheated of having a sober father and I just wanted to say I am sorry to you and mom for the pain I have put you through all the years of me drinking alcohol. I love you both from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you Deanna, (my sister) for all your love and tons of support you have giving me from the very beginning of my sober life. You are my blood and I will treasure you and love you till the end of time and beyond. Thank you Dee for all your support.
Klara, you have been so supportive to me and have been a great friend for the two years I have known you here on HubPages. It is a pleasure and a true honor that I have meet such a wonderful person like you. Thank you Klara.
Denise, it is a blessing and a honor to have met you too here on HubPages. It feels like we have been friends for much longer than two years. Thank you also for all you love and support in my journey to sobriety. It is people like you that get people like me strong and willing to stay sober. The chats we have had mean the world to me and I will always treasure your friendship. Thank you Denise.
Beth, you too are also a dear friend of mine and it was a pleasure meeting you here on HubPages over two years ago. I really appreciate everything you have said to me in the support of me getting sober. Lots of your comments were so touching Beth. Thanks for being a true friend Beth.
For all the other writers here on HubPages that have read my work and have followed me, thank you all as well. Thank you everyone for your kind and touching comments you place in my hubs. I truly appreciate everyone of them and appreciate your friendship. Thank you for your support in my quest to stay sober!
Here Are a Few Things I Have Accomplished Since Getting Sober
All my married life with Linda (my wife) we always wanted to live the rest of our lives at the New Jersey Shore. Many people that know me knew that Linda and I grew up at the New Jersey Shore and that is the place we met five years before we were even married.
After we briefly met, five years later we met again not knowing we met each other five years before. We both worked in a hospital and from there we have been together and and married for 31 years.
My dreams and goals for the both of us never panned out, and I truly believe that I was not willing to help myself with stopping drinking alcohol so my life wasn't ready just yet to change.
The moment I stopped drinking alcohol everything started to far in place as far as being happier, healthier, and having my dreams come true, one dream at a time.
Last year we finally fulfilled our long time dream by moving to the New Jersey Shore. We now have out home totally remodeled the way we like. We have a great boat that we go out on often because Long beach Island is right down the road.
To be able to go to the Ocean and Bay within a few minutes is awesome. I couldn't be happier. I have finally helped myself and God has given me the chance to live a sober and happier life where we always wanted to live. Dreams do come true if you are willing to fight for them and do what is right for yourself and your loving family.
God Bless all those that are suffering from an addiction and always remember that your life is no over by any means. You just need to change your life and make things right with yourself and your loved ones, and sooner or later things will begin to look up for you.
Stay strong to yourself. Stay determined to not only to get sober, but to stay sober for the rest of your life
