Life's Reflections - Her Light, Her Love, Her Liberty
A celebration and reflection of Carol Michelle (Coleman) Graham's life was composed by her sons Jared and Jaleel, along with other family members. The #reflections went on to express these endearing words about the way Carol, loved and lived her life. Carol, "graced this world as a shining light and the first daughter of Woodrow and Mae Frances Coleman on October 3, 1962. Even as a young child, she illuminated the world with her broad, beautiful smile and hearty laughter. Her parents taught her the importance of staying connected to #God and family. Much like her father, Carol had a love for the Lord. She adored her parents and appreciated spending time with them. She was a faithful and joy-filled sister, niece, auntie, cousin and friend."
Carol, started her day around 7 am, calling family members as a source of encouragement. "Interacting with her brought out the best in other people. She had a thirst for #knowledge and new experiences. She was educated in Chester, Pa school system, and attended #Temple University in Philadelphia."
Doris Duren, a beloved aunt said that Carol was, "Always aspiring for greatness, Carol was a continuous light in her home, family and community. Her greatest light came in the form of her two handsome sons, Jared and Jaleel. She was a very proud mother and often spoke of how she and the boy's father, Harry, worked together to instill #Christian values in their sons. They taught them that putting God first would always yield a positive outcome. Two of her proudest moments were seeing her sons graduate college and grow into strong black men as positive contributors to society. Carol mentored, nurtured and coached younger members of the family and the community, especially young males. She served as a pack leader for the #Boy Scouts of America and was an avid sports mom. During her last place of employment, Chester Water Authority, Carol was a dedicated and valued employee who sought to help others."
Additional information that reflected beautifully on her personality went on to express how, "Carol delighted in fine dining, the arts and entertaining her 'boys,' hosting sleep overs for the many young men in the family. For her, the more of her boys the better. She was adventurous and traveled all over the United States and abroad. She had the most beautiful smile and a natural ability to engage people from all walks of life. Carol never grew tired of spending time with family and friends. In the last days of her life Carol, was loved and cared for by Steve, a dear friend of the family that will never be forgotten."
Carol Worked Tirelessly For Her Community
Carol, enjoyed traveling, experiencing life's new challenges through business adventures and many other experiences that will never be disregarded. Carol lived and loved life. She was a popular disco queen who ran with her aunts Claudette and Paulette which inspired them to create #Spotlight Productions, Inc. Carol served as a producer, writer and host of #Spotlight. She interviewed radio personalities such as Doug Henderson of #WDAS, who went on to establish his own spin-off of the popular television show Soul Train. Carol also interviewed major entertainers of the 70's and 80's such as the Grammy Award winning group The Manhattans, as well as numerous other entertainers.
Carol Graham, also interviewed numerous state and local political leaders to provide information for residents within the community. She also served with me as Delaware County Coordinator, along with her aunt Paulette and uncle Wardell, cousin Kasia and other staff members. We served as part of the #Hands Across America, team who raised money with numerous major entertainers such as Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder and many others. Through this adventure Carol, helped to create a human chain to raise money for the hungry and homeless in Africa and throughout the world. We will never forget her loving efforts. Based on the determination and hard work by Carol and numerous other individuals from Spotlight Productions, Inc., the evolution of angelladywriter.com evolved. That is why it is vital that Carol M. Graham, must be recognized as a contributor to the foundation of these wonderful articles we have had the privilege to compose.
The reflection's of Carol's life went on sadly to express, "As Carol, celebrated the last days of her earthly life, she experienced numerous health challenges." Due to all of our imperfections, we all experience problems with sickness and even death. God's word the Bible admonishes us to put faith and trust in our Grand Creator Jehovah God's promises. One day in the future Almighty God will call and Carol will answer which is the title of the song based on the video that is featured in this article. She has paid the price through death based on Romans 6:23 which states, "For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord." (NWT of the Holy Scriptures) Now that Carol is alive in Almighty God's memory, we have the wonderful hope of seeing her again. We look forward to reminiscing about the times we had together but most importantly that we will have these discussions in a world where there will be no sickness, death, pain or sorrow based on Revelation 21:3,4. May we all look forward to that time with great anticipation.
We would like to thank David Brown, who served as editor of Spotlight Productions, Inc., for the footage of #The Manhattans' video that includes Carol, within this article. We would never want to forget that three of the original members of The Manhattans, have died as well. That includes Winfred Lovett, Kenneth Kelly and Sony Bivens. Gerald Alston, is the only original member of this group that remains. That is why we appreciate their inspiration in the music industry and wanted to acknowledge them during this celebration of Carol's life.
A Message from Carol - My Liberty
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life's been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times,
a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now, He set me free.
Carol's Sons Jared and Jaleel, went on to express these words after the death and burial of their mother. "Today was the hardest day of our life's putting our mother away to eternal rest but Mom you will forever live in the hearts of us and your future grandchildren WILL know you well. We will always love you. We miss you. Thanks for all the support we have received."
On the back of the program for Carol's funeral service this quote from Ephesians 6:10-17 was featured and entitled a, "Son's Protective Prayer" which stated: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the Devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all of this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
***The majority of the photos of Carol Graham were taken from video tapes of "Delaware Valley Spotlight" production in the 70's and 80's. Therefore photo clarity is not as prevalent.
