Chants

Chanting is a powerful method that can be used for transformation. Millions of people chant everyday. Some people chant as a devotion, others chant for personal power. Still others chant to materialize certain desires. Chanting can be traced back to primitive times. Ancient people have used chanting for many purposes. Today it is still used as a popular technique to control the mind and the emotions. It has also been known to reduce stress and lower blood pressure.

Benefits

As you could imagine, there are tremendous benefits for those who use chants. You can chant to achieve a goal, attract people into your life or receive a job or a promotion. Some people chant to empower themselves. Others chant to awaken spiritual power or connect to the divine. Chanting can completely change your character. It can give you the power to destroy any barrier or limitation.

How it works

Chanting words is a method of programming the mind. Just by merely repeating certain words over and over, you can bring things into existence. Each time you chant with focused concentration and emotion, you are building energy within you. This energy can be used in a number of ways. If you are chanting for employment, a house or a new car, you are invoking the law of attraction. In that particular case, ideas or plans will come to you. When you act on your plans, you will receive what you want. In the case of spiritual devotion, a person may become blissful or take on the qualities of the chosen deity. Peace is a natural result of chanting whether silently or aloud. Whenever a rhythm is developed, the mind and body tends to relax and become calm. Negative thoughts are eliminated. In fact, problems, worries and anxiety completely disappear because there are no thoughts to support them.

Results

You can chant fast or slowly. You may chant mentally or aloud. It is important to associate a positive feeling with the chant. This feeling helps to give the chant more power. The more you chant, the more powerful you will become. Once an emotional link is connected to the chants, you can instantly trigger positive emotions within yourself and others. This is one of the secrets of charisma. You become liberated bliss because you no longer waste thought energy on the negativity in the world. You get what you put into it. Some results come very fast, others may come slower. It depends on what you want. Religious groups completely immerse themselves in devotional chants all day long. Places like India, Japan, China and Tibet are renowned for devotional mantras. You can choose a mantra or a chant from any religious tradition or you can create your own for whatever purpose you need. The important thing is to be consistent every day. There are no rules as to when you should chant. Some people chant in the morning. Some people chant at work or at lunch. Others chant at night. I chant all day everywhere. Whenever I'm not talking to another person, I am chanting silently. This process has created an entirely different world for me. It has given me complete control of my thoughts. I can easily direct my thinking instead of being pulled along with fleeting thoughts and distractions. Ultimately, it will make anyone a happier person.

I find the pronunciation on different websites, Amazon cds or on Youtube. I also use my own. The sound does bring a calm state.

Do you find the pronunciation difficult? I have a few friends that have helped me with the Sanskrit ones. They say it is VERY important to get the sound just right as that is what carries the intent.

Actually, I tend to make up my own mantras. Lately I use "abundant ease" for myself and others. I do agree with you that the thought vibrations are what matters most. The sounds are to help us focus on being calm and present in the moment, no?

I have used Hindu, Tibetan, Japanese and Western. Each for different reasons and sometimes just to explore. Mainly to see if it can do what my research says it can do. I have found that they all work, which leads me to believe that there is one common element in all of them.
