Age Related Deafness or Presbycusis
Presbycusis, a word in the medical terminology is actually derived from Greek language (Presby means 'elder', and akousis is for 'hearing').
Hearing loss is associated with the physiological aging process in the ear. It usually begins to show at the age of 65 years, but may do so early if it is in your genes (heredity), due to long-term exposure to loud noise or generalized blood vessel disorder. It is more common in men than in women.

In supplement form, it is well tolerated even in doses as high as 3600 mg per day other than a few mild side effects like stomach upset, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and an allergic skin rash in a few instances.
It can be used safely in doses of 1200 mg per day as are recommended to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
- Anticancer medicines - It reduces the efficacy of steroids and certain anti-cancer medicines when taken along with them.
