Do You Want A Healthier, Fitter And More Productive Lifestyle?
Good health and well-being directly relates to the quality of life and therefore, is one of the most valuable assets to pursue to maximize your chances of remaining active and independent and to living a long, healthy and productive life.
The foundation of good living is developed by being physically, mentally and spiritually active. It requires simplicity of life, it avoids excesses and eliminates all that is harmful.
What you eat, how you look, feel and think and, what you do determine your quality of life and other future outcomes. Unhealthy habits eventually have consequences that take their toll over time. Serious illness calls everything into question-quality of life, family, job, and plans for the future are all placed in the shadow.
Take the initiative and resolve now to take steps to build a strong body, improve yourself and to experience that inner rejuvination that good health and well-being provides. The success of your life, your health and its length depend on it.
The Fountain Of Youth:The fountain of youth is a legendary spring that brought youth and cured illness to those who drank its waters. The myth goes back to the 5th century B. C. when Greek historian Herodotus wrote of such a fountain. In 1513, Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León discovered Florida while searching for this eternal fountain of youth.
You Are What You Eat:The real secret to maintaining or regaining that youthfulness is healthy living that invigorate the body, strengthens the immune system and reduces health risk factors.
Food should nourish and protect the body. But, when the body does not receive the right materials its cells are literally starved for the nutrients they require for efficient functioning.
You Are What You Think:Positive or negative thoughts can determine your destiny. The person who enjoys life wants to keep on enjoying it to the fullest. Their zest for living radiates from their positive outlook on life while pursuing their dreams that set a direction.
Visualize your life the way you want it and believe in it to start making the right choices and taking the necessary steps in the right direction.
Spiritual Fulfillment:Enables the individual to see beyond this world and to seek spiritual realities through a Divine Connection that provides a reason to life. Spiritual values such as faith, truth, forgiveness and righteousness bring us closer to God. Their attributes include tranquility, compassion, tolerance and love.
The spiritual rich have an inner sense of peace that helps them transcend limitations and to find the light of hope. Deep within their hearts they know that there is something beyond this life that can only be found through faith in God and Jesus Christ.
Prevention Is Always Far Better Than The Cure:Poor food choices, lack of physical exercise as well as other negative lifestyle choices may put your health at risk that can inhibit your goals in life and bring much suffering.
Prevention through balance in everything you do is the key to healthier living. Even simple, everyday things like family, friends, hobbies and generally, enjoying the beauties that life has to offer can bring happiness and a contented mind.
Knowledge:It is essential that we learn the basic fundamentals of health and the value of good nutrition then, applying it in a disciplined manner, to our own health program to make smart choices. It involves understanding:
*how the human body functions
*the essential nutrients and in which foods they are found
*what to eat, when to eat and, how much to eat.

Setting Health Goals
“Exercise is king. Nutrition is queen. Put them together and you’ve got a kingdom.”
Jack LaLanne (American Fitness And Nutrition Expert)
One of our most important goals must be to get ourselves into the best shape of our lives to help increase our odds for good health and well-being.
Goals can provide the direction and the energy to keep you focused toward healthy lifestyle attitudes, behaviors and choices throughout life. But, they require dedication, commitment and persistent effort.
Imagine having a well-toned body with a fat-free waistline that radiates strength and vitality. A person in tip-top shape has a kind of aura about them that oozes robust, healthy living.
As your body develops, you begin to gain that inner feeling of confidence and self respect that healthy living provides. So, its time to get inspired to make a start. The results will be well worth it.

All Disease Begins In The Gut
Hippocrates-Father Of Medicine. Ancient Greek physician who lived during Greece’s Classical period.
The Waistline Is The Truest Indication Of The Body's General Health
The waistline protects important organs and contributes to overall general health. An unhealthy waistline is caused by poor lifestyle habits, poor diet, lack of exercise, being overweight and stress.
The old adage, "the smaller your waistline, the longer your lifeline" has real meaning. A sensible diet and exercise plan is the healthiest way to a well-tapered waistline.
Early man ate natural, whole foods that provided the essentials of good nutrition. Today, there is a much greater variety of foods to choose from however, many are genetically altered and grown using pesticides then refined to the extent that many nutrients have been removed. Additives are used to give color, taste, and smell and preservatives are added to give food a longer shelf life.
With so many highly refined foods loaded with fat, sugar, salt and devoid of some of the most important nutrients needed by the body to maintain good health, the human digestive and immune systems gradually, becomes weakened and vulnerable to health problems in the form of sickness, pain and misery that can lead to premature old age and a shortened life through disease if they are consumed on a regular basis.
There are limits as to how much abuse the body can take. Food abuse, smoking, alcohol and drug abuse can be the beginning of the end for the individual who becomes addicted.
Foods of little value eventually cause health problems. They include foods that are highly processed like white bread, white rice, white flour, cake mixes, non-dairy milk substitutes, jams and soft drinks, trans-fat products, supermarket baked products, refined sugar, artificial sweeteners and sugar substitutes and anything fried or battered.

The Essential Nutrients
Just like building a house, you will need certain material such as timber, glass, bricks, plaster, nails, paint and many other items. In the same way, the human body needs essential material for the important job it has to do at every age of life.
From the food we eat we get that material out of which the bones, muscles, nerves, skin and all the internal organs are formed and the energy we need in carrying on all the activities of life. In addition, they help to regulate the activities of every organ in the body that contribute to its metabolic processes and provide for its growth and repair.
Unless these materials are present in our daily diet, we are likely to suffer from some deficiency and be susceptible to disease.
A healthy and enduring body needs six essential nutrients through a balanced, varied diet in the correct portions for its many different functions at every age of life to keep it healthy and strong. They are:
protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fats, water.
1. Carbohydrates:There are three main forms of carbohydrates. Sugars, starches and fiber. Starch and fiber are complex carbohydrates while sugars are simple carbohydrates. Their main function is to provide energy for the body, especially the brain and nervous system.
Good carbohydrates have a low glycemic index that cause a slower change in blood sugar levels. They also contain important vitamins, minerals, fiber and natural antioxidants that help protect against cancer, heart disease and other illnesses.
Foods containing good carbohydrate are found in whole-grains, pasta, beans, fruit and vegetables and milk products. Foods rich in refined grains and added sugars are called bad carbohydrates.
2. Protein:Vital for the development, maintenance, repair and proper functioning of the body. The building blocks of protein are the twenty different amino acids commonly found in plant and animal proteins.
While the human body can synthesize eleven of those amino acids it needs, we need protein from our diet to supply the other nine from foods such as lean meat, poultry, eggs, dairy products, seafood, seeds, nuts, beans and legumes.
3. Essential Fatty Acids:Vital nutrients necessary for good health. The body can synthesize most of the fats it needs however, two essential fatty acids must be obtained from food. They are omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Deficiencies can lead to a decreased immune function and the risk of disease.
4. Vitamins:Essential vitamins play an important role in bodily functions. Deficiencies caused by poor eating habits, alcoholism, stress, lack of exposure to sunlight and medicines that interfere with their ingestion can endanger your health and life.
5. Minerals:We need a wide range of minerals in the right amounts to perform vital body functions and to prevent disease.
Along with amino acids (protein), minerals are the basic building blocks of every cell in the body. They strengthen the bones and teeth, maintain a healthy immune system and help vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates and fats, for the body to grow, function and heal itself.
6. Water:Needed for proper hydration, digestion and elimination of waste products, it regulates body temperature, provides the means for nutrients to travel to all organs, transports oxygen to the cells and lubricates the joints and eyes. You can go weeks without food but only a few days without water.
Drinking about eight glasses of purified water per day is essential to staying healthy.
