Contemporary Health Evaluation
At the end of the Contemporary Health, reflect back and evaluate whether you feel that you have, professionally and personally, achieved the objectives laid out in the Contemporary Health. If not, what is your plan to do so?
It is my belief that the main objective of contemporary health was to educate college students on healthy living. Contemporary Health has taught me about the benefits of healthy living; I have learned that the choices I make about my health now will affect my health later in life. I found the final paper I wrote for contemporary health on the topic of healthy living taught me the most on the benefits of healthy living. The research I completed for the paper truly opened my eyes with regard to the way I am living now will affect my quality of life as I age. I feel that this new level of knowledge will prove particularly beneficial to me because of the fact that I am at risk for high cholesterol and that I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is a group of inherited disorders that affects a person’s skin, joints, and blood vessels. On a personal level I feel like I have achieved the course objectives in Contemporary Health.
On a professional level I am uncertain if I achieved the entire course objectives laid out in Contemporary Health. The reason for my uncertainty is that I am currently undecided as far as my career path. I know that I would like to work in the field of psychology and that I enjoy working with children, but I am unsure of what career goal I would like to strive for. I do feel that no matter which career I decide on the knowledge that I have learned from this course will prove useful even if it is only on a personal level. I found the ways that a person’s mental state can affect their physical health to be particularly interesting. I specifically enjoyed learning about how a person’s stress level can influence their chance of contracting an illness. Once I decide on a career I may decide to conduct further research into contemporary health. If I need additional knowledge I could reach out to a college professor for direction, contact a professional in that field for assistance, conduct research using a university library, use google scholar, and/or create a research study of my own.
