Anxiety

Anxiety is a Party Crasher. When stress, guilt and Worry are having a get together Anxiety is sure to always be there.

Anxiety can be the smallest niggling in the back of your mind. Or, it can be full blown, feeling like a heart attack, or complete shut-down.

Anxiety and stress make your "Fight or Flight" chemicals operate on overdrive, and when no action is precipitated by the Rush of Anxiety, fear or worry, the hormones and chemicals do a nose-dive and play funny tricks on our minds and bodies.

More research is finding that by taking deep and steady breaths, and not small shallow breathing, we clear our minds, lungs, boost the heart, and are able to deal better with our bodies reaction to whatever "stressors", worries or guilt are driving us mad.

Breathing Deep, from the Diaphragm has many benefits. Just think, when we are worried, or scared, if we aren't careful, we can find we haven't even Breathed for minutes at a time, over the course of hours, days or weeks. This is shutting down oxygen to the brain, and keeps us from making aggressive and necessary responses to those things.

57). ____________________Fill in the blanks, I could go on, but...,

Any thought can drive a person insane . It isn't the things we experience and face, it is what WE THINK ABOUT our experience and 'things'.

Byron Katie shared this in her book, "Loving What Is" The wind always blows, but it is our thinking about the howl of the wind, by focusing on that thing we can allow our thinking about it to drive us Insane. It taught me some valuable things, there are ideas in this book, I don't agree with, but it is a good and inspirational read.

Byron Katie - Ophrah Soul Series Interview

Don't Worry, Be Happy

I have learned the hard way that when we keep secrets , it isn't always a good thing. Many will attest that they have lived half of their lives, believing a certain thing was wrong with them, and after years of work and therapy, they find it is not insane , or an isolated event , that many others are thinking the same thoughts.

As I worked on these lists, I really started laughing. By the time I got to the end, It is almost impossible to not Laugh. I think this is like an anti-worry venom . I believe we can trick ourselves into better living, and we can make 'shifts or rifts" in time and space that will have one of our worst worries crumble in just a few words.

The one I love is, "My boss hates me!"

Therapist: "And?"

Me: "Well, they are mean, and make life harder than it should be.

Therapist: "And?"

Me: "I need this job!"

Therapist: "And?''...

The answer is we often really choose to be in situations for a bunch of "stinking thinking" and reasons that don't really make smart or healthy sense.

  1. Is another person's well being, safety, sanity more important than yours? (Children of course need protection from adults)
  2. If you get a lot of pleasure from helping others and buying gifts for someone else, why can't you do the same for yourself?
  3. Being in a situation that makes you physically or mentally ill has no sane reason for being there. You do not deserve anything substandard.
  4. No one is Better than you! No one is closer to Your Higher Power than You!
  5. Really, we can choose happiness, not matter our outer circumstances.

I know these lists are manic, manic, mad, but hopefully - Somehow, it will bring you some Joy and recovery - Peace and The Best!

Last Year - The Four Agreements

It is only later in my life that I learned about The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, it sure has saved me from negative thinking, and bad self-talk.

Since I learned The Four Agreements, I found that I used dishonest self-talk against myself and it produced a negativity in me. Many people worry, but there are more productive ways to use our intelligence.

Lilly! First off thank you for reading my Hubs. More importantly thank you for this breath of fresh air of a Hub! You are right everyone has problems and no one really has the answers. Funny list btw and useful too. I cannot be more serious when I say you see things that others do not... You are very Evocative and sagely. I think this is another VERY HELPFUL Hub and the time that it must have taken to publish tells me what a hard and sincere working person you are. Thanks a lot for the chuckle... Sincerely, Matt.

I don't think a day goes by that one does not worry about many of the things you listed here. As we age and enter our senior years we worry mostly about leaving things on or what we went into that room to get? It makes me smile when dementia starts to set in. But the worst thing for me is having to go out an purchase new kettles and pots and pans because of the burnt out bottoms from leaving them on the elements for to long:0))

Oh the beauty of getting older, wiser? hmmmmm I'm beginning to wonder. Did I forget something here? if I did please forgive me as I go running to the kitchen to turn off an element left on. LOL

Hi, Wow, and I thought my brother was bad! lol seriously, I totally understand where you are coming from on this. My brother worries like that all the time, and I have got worse with my worries. Especially after certain events that have happened over the years that I had no control over. I think that is the point. people who don't worry, usually have had very little to worry about, so their brains are still 'intact' for a better word, but once your self confidence and the world around you goes with a great big bump, it is a bit like someone pulling the carpet out from under your feet. your brain cracks, simple as that. And because you have felt that horrible panic feeling, you get stuck with it all the time. trust me, I know. thanks for this, and yes it did make me laugh as well! cheers nell

    • Sweetsusieg profile image

Lilly-Lilly-Lilly.... you worry to much... LOL Just kidding! My Mom instilled some serious guilt on my shoulders so I too am a worry wart.

As you too may have noticed I worry what other people think of me, that is why I removed a Hub. It is as though my opinions don't matter. And yet I worry about that as well, my opinions as just that mine and as such I should be entitled to them, but I don't want to offend. At what point do we worriers stop thinking of others and think of themselves? We can't, because then we would be termed selfish...

      Ahhhh, the saga continues...

Great thought provoking Hub... Coming from you, it is expected, since you are always thinking outside the box. And what a box it is!

Pcunix, I did read that article, and thank you for sharing it! It really gets me when people want to cross boundaries and interfere with a caring and intelligent set of parents, when they really probably care less about the child's actual welfare. I have a college prof. she was allowed to hike and climb and investigate dangerous terrain as a very young child. Her parents trusted her, and she has excelled in a field mostly male, and she is a leader in gps technology and its relation to Earth Science or Natural Disasters. She couldn't have excelled in these ways if her parents had infused her with fear.

We cannot help but laugh for many silly things we worry about. I wonder if we get 100 things NOT to worry about, and another 100 things that make us happy? Guess we should try this? We tend to think negative. Why? Well, I know people who are always positive - true optimists. On the other hand, is a pessimist not an informed optimist? Thanks for a thought-provoking hub!

I agree with ecoggins. We worry most of the time about things which we have no control over. We worry so much that we have no time for feeling good and worry can depress and cause anxiety. As ecoggins said, I am convinced that Jesus is a live and well in my soul and he will not let me die alone and lonely.

Thanks for sharing this hub which is interesting and it does present us with thoughts that we worry and fear too much.

This is a very insightful and interesting hub. Thank you for sharing it. There are so many things one can worry about, aren't there?

Left the iron on is a concern for my wife and her mother. Her mother left the iron on once and their house burned down. There is a distinct possibilitiy that I may die broke, but if Jesus is who he said he is (which I am convinced he is and do not worry about if he isn't) then I will never die alone or lonely.
