Spiritual Growth–You Were Created With a Purpose
Let no person insult you that you're good for nothing/useless. You are not! God created you with a purpose. Take your time to meditate your past and present life and you'll come to realize that all along you have done good work. Your work has helped you, your family or your neighbor in one way or the other. If this is the case then you have a purpose.
Religion Teachings–Do Not Follow them Blindly
Now, you may be saying "Yes, belonging to a religion is essential, but how do I know which religion is correct?" It is obvious that there is only one religion that is correct but the truth has been manipulated. Since the truth has been manipulated about the correct religion, we now have many religions.
Even Christians do not seem to agree which Christian denomination is the correct one. Is it catholic, P.A.G or the Seventh Day Adventist?
When discussing about which Christian denomination is the correct one, every Christian defends the denomination he belongs to. By faith a person knows that he belongs to the correct Christian denomination and he underrates the other Christian denominations. By the way, are you sure that you belong to a Christian denomination that is true? Oops, I can't hear saying "Yes!"
There are ongoing discussions on various websites and Christian forumsregarding Christian denominations. In one of the discussions I read a post saying that the religion one belongs to doesn't matter but what matters is faith that he has in God. I do not know what your opinion is, but according to me I doubt this reasoning since teachings of each Christian denomination differ slightly or greatly. There are some Christian denominations whose teachings are weird and lead to self destruction. Have you ever heard some of the Christian denomination teachings that leave you to feel sorry for its followers?
I have come to understand that as weird and wrong the teachings of some Christian denominations may seem to be, they will always have followers. I do not understand if it is due ignorance, being desperate or if it is faith that makes one to be a follower of such Christian denominations. There is this Bible verse that makes me to think deeply, Hosea 4:6-7 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being a priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. 7 The more they increased, The more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame."
Although the above two verses were meant to Israelites as a result of God's displeasure with Israel, they still apply to us at present. Due to lack of knowledge as a result of not reading the Holy Bible thoroughly, some of us follow blindly the interpretation of preachers, pastors and other church leaders even although they may be wrong or correct.
How can a Christian denomination forbid its members not to seek modern medical treatment and instead recommend its members to pray so that God heals them personally? Is that not putting God to test wrongly? What do followers expect when they follow blindly the teachings of their Christian denomination that forbids them not to immunize their children against polio? Do they know that it is God who is using doctors and nurses to heal people?
I heard that there is a certain Christian denomination whose teaching doesn't allow their children to attend public or private schools instead they are isolated by being locked in a house where they're taught for the reason that they'll get influenced by other children who according to this Christian denomination are of the world therefore they are sinners.
Giving to God–Tithe Sincerely
Nowadays spiritual growth is affected by greed. There is too much greed for money and power. Greediness for money has gone to an extent where false miracles are performed to acquire more church members which transform to more tithes and offerings. There are occasions where members have been distracted to worship God as a result of power struggle within the church.
People are complaining that church leaders of these days only care about money and there is embezzlement of church funds. One thing we should understand is that we are supposed to give freely to God according to what He has blessed us with. Deuteronomy 16:17 "Every man shall give as He is able, according to the blessings of the Lord your God which he has given you."
According to what God has blessed us with, we are supposed to give Him only 10% as tithe (Leviticus 27:32, Nehemiah 10:38 and Hebrews 7:2). It is not certain that the more you give the more you're blessed by God. Do not misinterpret Biblical teachings regarding giving and receiving blessings from God. Remember that there are deceitful preachers (church leaders) who are using some of the Biblical verses about giving and receiving God's blessings wrongly for personal gains. I am not recommending you not to tithe.
The Bible is always correct but there are deceitful people who manipulate its teachings. If you read the second chapter of the Book of Malachi you'll realize that some priests of those days were deceitful. Malachi 2:8 "But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by your instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the Lord of hosts." In the Book of Malachi, God encouraged people to give Him offerings even although some priests were deceitful.
One sure thing is that those who embezzle funds meant to do the work of God and the deceitful church leaders who use Bible verses that talk about giving and receiving God's blessings for personal gains or those who perform miracles that are false will not end up being unpunished by God. They're literally bringing a curse to themselves.
Of course, you can give God as much as you would like but are you giving Him in a manner that is sincere? If you tithe in a hypocritical manner, God will reject your offerings. Remember the way God did to Cain (Genesis 4:5), Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:3-5). Therefore, we should be careful how we use Bible verses and the manner in which we give tithes to God.
You Have a Purpose–Appreciate What God Has Blessed You With
We should appreciate what God has blessed us with. If we take our time and analyze our lives we will come to accept that God has blessed us. We will also accept that God is good throughout but sometimes life is unfair due to imperfection of mankind. As an example, being alive is something that we should thank God for. It means that God has given us another chance to do something great and positive with our lives.
He has blessed each one of us and our blessings are not the same. God has got his own reason why He has blessed us differently and we cannot question Him about this. It will be very wrong for an individual to say that he is not blessed.
You should never say a prayer questioning God why He has not blessed you the same way he has blessed your neighbor.
The Book of Matthew 6:25 advises us not to worry about life. There is more to life than spending a lot of time worrying. This Bible verse doesn't mean that we should live in a way that is reckless by failing to plan and lacking goals to achieve. It just warns us not to worry about tomorrow since we are not sure if the things we are worrying about will happen. We should appreciate today for we are alive and we can use it to do great work that will make our tomorrow better.
You must be able to look in detail at your feelings, beliefs and motivations. Occasionally looking at your life experiences, your choices, your relationships and your actions will give you useful information what you really want your life to be like. For your life to have a purpose you must have a goal. Do not just wake up each day and work without having any goal. It is wrong to do so.
If you are focused in achieving your goal(s) you'll find it easy to know how you will act when you find yourself in the middle of any circumstance whether it is a pleasant or unpleasant one. You need courage, determination, discipline, consistency and willingness in order to achieve your goal. Below are some introspective things that you should consider:
1.) Have goals to achieve.
2.) You should forgive yourself when you go wrong but you should never repeat your wrong doings.
3.) Focus on the things that are positive. Do not be one of the busybodies that the book of 2Thessalonians 3:11 refers to.
4.) Learn to appreciate what God has blessed you with.
5.) Always be hard working and only settle for the best.
6.) Learn to give sincerely.
7.) Do not become weary doing great work. Always do good work, refer to 2Thessalonians 3:13 "But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good."
When we are born we don't know the purpose of our lives. As we grow, we start finding ourselves. We find our purpose in life through goal setting. We were all created by God with purpose. God did not make a mistake creating anyone of us nor was our existence a misfortune. In fact, God has good plans for each one of us, plans that give you and me a future that has hope. Jeremiah 29:11 "For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope."
It is us who make mistakes when we are in the process of finding our purpose in life. The mistake of being lazy, busybodies, not setting any goal, being greedy, covetous, earning a living through unscrupulous ways, not appreciating what God has blessed us with and many more mistakes that go against God's plan that He has for us.
